Chapter 692 Antidote
Chapter 692 Antidote
Zhang Hai was startled by Tsunade's sudden awakening, instinctively shrinking back. Looking into Tsunade's sharp eyes, he couldn't help but smile bitterly. This woman, even in her unconscious state, maintained a high level of alertness.
"Lady Tsunade, this is the antidote I made for you! Take it quickly!" Zhang Hai hurriedly put the gray pill in his hand to Tsunade's lips.
Upon hearing this, Tsunade's eyes flashed with suspicion. She glanced at the pill in Zhang Hai's hand, then at his bloodshot eyes, and finally stuck out her tongue and licked the gray pill into his mouth.
Her tongue accidentally touched Zhang Hai's fingers, bringing a slightly warm, moist sensation. Zhang Hai felt his fingers tremble, and a strange feeling welled up inside him.
The pill melted instantly in her mouth, and a warm current flowed throughout Tsunade's body. She felt her fatigue rapidly subside, and the toxins in her body began to be quickly eliminated. Her pale complexion began to regain its rosy hue, and her breathing became steady and strong.
Tsunade stretched her body and felt much better. Although she had fully recovered, she still pretended to be lingeringly poisoned, leaning limply against the hospital bed.
"Hmph... Your antidote isn't working..." Tsunade glanced at Zhang Hai, her tone tinged with dissatisfaction. "After taking it, I still feel weak all over and have a fever... I think you'll have to continue taking care of me." As she finished speaking, a sly glint appeared in her eyes, implying to Zhang Hai to continue looking after her.
Upon hearing this, Zhang Hai couldn't help but smile bitterly. He knew Tsunade was deliberately making things difficult for him, trying to continue "exploiting" him. But he didn't expose her; instead, he was happy to play dumb.
He reached out and gently touched Tsunade's forehead, feigning concern as he said, "Lady Tsunade, do you really feel feverish? Is there still some lingering poison? Let me check you again." His fingers touched Tsunade's warm forehead, savoring the faint fragrance emanating from her. He knew that this act of "care" had probably only just begun.
However, Tsunade suddenly blushed. She hadn't expected Zhang Hai to actually dare to touch her forehead, which made her feel a little embarrassed and annoyed. She suddenly raised her knee and slammed it hard into Zhang Hai's stomach with a "bang".
Caught off guard, Zhang Hai felt a sharp pain in his stomach, and his whole body instantly curled up into a shrimp-like shape. He groaned, and his body uncontrollably leaned forward, landing directly on Tsunade.
The two instantly collapsed onto the hospital bed in an unusually intimate position. Zhang Hai's face was almost pressed against Tsunade's cheek, their breaths almost touching, each able to feel the other's warm breath. Their bodies were in close contact, a strange current flowing between them. The atmosphere in the entire hospital room instantly became awkward and ambiguous.
Just then, the door to the ward creaked open. Shizune appeared in the doorway, carrying a food box, clearly there to deliver a meal to Tsunade.
When Jingyin saw the two people in such an ambiguous position on the hospital bed, she froze instantly. Her face turned bright red, and the food box in her hand fell to the ground with a clatter.
"I'm so sorry! I... I didn't see anything!" Shizune stammered, then turned abruptly, covered her flushed cheeks, and ran away without looking back. Her figure disappeared quickly at the end of the corridor like a startled rabbit.
Tsunade was startled by Shizune's appearance and the scream. She shoved Zhang Hai away and sat up in bed. Her face flushed red and then paled, her eyes filled with anger and embarrassment.
"You bastard! It's all your fault!" Tsunade glared at Zhang Hai fiercely, then quickly straightened her clothes and chased after Shizune out of the ward.
"Shizune! Shizune, stop right there!" Tsunade caught up with Shizune and grabbed her arm.
Shizune's face turned bright red, and she lowered her head, not daring to look at Tsunade. "Grandma Tsunade... I... I really didn't see anything..."
Tsunade looked at Shizune's shy expression and sighed helplessly. She knew that Shizune had definitely misunderstood.
"Shizune, listen to me, it's not what you saw," Tsunade explained. "That bastard was poisoned, I was just giving him an antidote, and he accidentally fell on me, that's all..."
Shizune abruptly raised her head, a look of "I understand" in her eyes. She glanced at Tsunade, then at the distant hospital room, and finally gave a meaningful smile.
"Grandma Tsunade, you don't need to explain, I understand!" Shizune said innocently, but the "I understand" in her eyes gave Tsunade a headache.
"What do you know?!" Tsunade couldn't help but yell, but Shizune just chuckled, then broke free from Tsunade's grasp and ran away again.
Tsunade watched Shizune's retreating figure and sighed helplessly. She knew that now she was truly in a situation she couldn't clear her name no matter what. She glared angrily in the direction of the ward, then stormed back to the lab.
Back in the lab, Tsunade found Zhang Hai already tidying up the workbench, preparing to continue the tasks she had assigned him. A slight smile crept onto her lips, a sly glint in her eyes. It seemed this kid was truly inescapable. She didn't say much, merely glancing at Zhang Hai before turning and leaving the lab. She needed to go to Shizune and properly "explain" what had just happened.
From that day on, Zhang Hai's daily life became exceptionally busy. During the day, he would sometimes wear a mask and secretly take Kurenai and Konan to the ninja academy to observe their growth. In the afternoon, he would pick up Nohara Rin and take her to the hospital ward to continue his research on the Spirit Transformation Technique. He patiently taught Nohara Rin, guiding her to sense chakra and control her soul. Nohara Rin's talent was indeed astonishing; although her chakra reserves were insufficient, she possessed a unique advantage in soul perception.
In the evenings, Zhang Hai would be in Tsunade's laboratory, completing the research and development tasks for various poisons and potions assigned by Tsunade, while simultaneously using Shadow Clone Technique to teach Yugao swordsmanship at the training grounds in Konoha Forest. Yugao's progress surprised Zhang Hai; her swordsmanship became increasingly sharp, and her understanding of illusion swordsmanship deepened.
And so, the days passed by, and Zhang Hai kept himself busy, while also watching the children around him grow up little by little.
One day, Tsunade suddenly found Zhang Hai and said in a serious tone, "Zhang Hai, I have some news to tell you."
Zhang Hai's heart sank. He knew that whenever Tsunade spoke in this tone, it was never a good thing.
"Yugao's application to join the Anbu has been approved," Tsunade said. "She has been assigned to study at the 'Root' organization."
