Chapter 753 White Cloud
Chapter 753 White Cloud
After hearing Zhang Hai's words, a sly glint flashed in Killer Bee's eyes. He smiled mysteriously, leaned close to Zhang Hai's ear, and whispered, "Yo, Baiyun, I have a request! I want to learn from you for a while!"
Upon hearing this, Zhang Hai wore a strange expression. He retorted, "Does that mean you have to call me teacher?"
Upon hearing this, Killer Bee did not hesitate and immediately called out, "Hello, teacher!" His voice was clear and loud, with a hint of mischief.
Just as Zhang Hai was at a loss for words, a helpless sigh came from nearby: "Sigh, you're giving me a real headache, Bi."
Killer Bee whirled around, his carefree smile vanishing instantly, replaced by a tense expression. He abruptly stood at attention, motionless, like a schoolchild who had made a mistake.
Zhang Hai looked closely and saw a white-haired, dark-skinned woman dressed in the attire of a Cloud Village ninja, walking gracefully towards him. She was tall and slender, with beautiful features, and exuded an intellectual and gentle aura.
The woman approached, her gaze settling on Zhang Hai, scrutinizing him several times. Suddenly, a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes, and her tone carried a trace of doubt: "You are... Baiyun? The student who disappeared during the Second Shinobi World War on the Iwagakure battlefield and was later presumed dead?"
Zhang Hai frowned slightly. He hadn't expected that this woman would recognize him at a glance, and even know so much about his experiences during the Ninja World War. This woman was no ordinary person; she was meticulous and knew everything about the village, even remembering him, the "ghost student" who had only been enrolled for one day and then disappeared without a trace.
The woman seemed to sense Zhang Hai's confusion, smiled gently, and explained, "It's mainly because your experiences are too bizarre. You suddenly appeared and then suddenly disappeared, so it's inevitable that I'd pay more attention to you. I never expected to run into you here."
Zhang Hai's brows relaxed, and a faint smile appeared on his face as he replied, "Hello, I'm Bai Yun. May I ask who you are?"
The woman extended her hand in a friendly gesture: "My name is Mabuyi."
Just as Zhang Hai was about to reach out to shake her hand, Killer Bee suddenly stepped forward and stood between the two of them, a sheepish smile on his face, his tone somewhat incoherent: "Oh, well, I just happened to hear about the mission, so I came over early to help out, oh!" He was clearly making excuses for sneaking out.
“Bee.” Mabui interrupted Killer Bee softly, her tone gentle yet carrying an undeniable authority. With just that one word, Killer Bee froze, instantly speechless.
Zhang Hai stared at Mabui in surprise. This seemingly gentle woman's words carried such weight; Killer Bee, in her presence, was like a child who had made a mistake. He couldn't help but doubt Mabui's identity, even speculating that she possessed some special bloodline limit that could pose a threat to him. But then, relying on his keen senses and judgment of chakra auras, he determined that Mabui was not someone who could threaten him. Her intimidation stemmed more from her special status and identity.
Mabui bypassed Qirabi, smiled amicably at Zhang Hai, and asked, "Baiyun, do you know what happened in the Kingdom of Craftsmen?" Her tone was very polite, clearly showing that she was wary of Zhang Hai's strength and status.
Zhang Hai nodded and explained, "It's nothing serious. I just placed a large order for a weapon here. So the Land of Craftsmen won't have time to provide ninja tools to the Hidden Cloud Village for a while."
Mabui was very surprised. She pressed, "Zhang Hai, your weapon alone requires the use of all the artisans in the Kingdom of Craftsmen? And even has to cancel orders from other major countries because of it?"
After receiving Zhang Hai's affirmative answer, Mabuyi's curiosity was piqued. She looked at Zhang Hai, her eyes gleaming with inquiry, and asked in a pleading tone, "In that case, may we go in and take a look at your weapons?"
Zhang Hai smiled and agreed: "Of course."
Zhang Hai glanced at Killer Bee, then at the friendly-looking Mabui, and made his decision. He didn't want to clash with Kumogakure, and he didn't believe they would spend a billion kyats to replicate this weapon. He smiled and nodded, "Of course."
Mabuyi's eyes flashed with surprise when she saw Zhang Hai agree so easily. She turned to look at Kirabi, her tone serious: "Bib, you're not allowed to run around. Wait for me here. After I've finished looking around, we'll go back together. Otherwise..." She didn't finish her sentence, but the threat in her tone made Kirabi instantly tense.
Before she could finish speaking, Kirabi immediately replied, "Yes!" He stood obediently in place, not daring to make the slightest move. Seeing this, Zhang Hai couldn't help but guess that Mabui might have some special identity or ability that made Kirabi so afraid. But he quickly judged from her aura that Mabui was not someone who could pose a threat to him; her strength lay more in her wisdom and her control over Kirabi.
The two entered the foundry, where the silence was so profound you could hear a pin drop. The air was filled with the clanging of metal and the scorching heat of the furnace, but the craftsmen were completely absorbed in their work, oblivious to their arrival. Some leaned against the wall, exhausted and asleep, while others, still awake, meticulously carved the tiny blades under the dim light. Such a detailed and massive undertaking—no wonder it required the combined efforts of all the finest craftsmen in the land of artisans.
Zhang Hai gestured for Mabuyi to be quiet, indicating that she shouldn't disturb the craftsmen. Mabuyi nodded in understanding and quietly observed the forging room. She looked at the tiny blades, feeling a sense of confusion. These blades, though sharp, were so small and numerous—what was their purpose? How could Zhang Hai, alone, perfectly control them? She realized why Zhang Hai had so readily agreed to let her see; he hadn't actually shown her the weapon's true prototype. She guessed that this weapon must hold a secret.
Mabuyi gave Zhang Hai a look, then turned and walked out of the foundry. Zhang Hai tactfully followed, and the two returned to the village entrance.
After they came out, Mabuyi said to Zhang Hai reproachfully, "You little rascal, you never intended for me to see the prototype of the weapon, did you?" Her tone was tinged with helplessness, but also with admiration.
Zhang Hai smiled and admitted, "You're very smart. But the blueprints are with me. If you're interested, I can show them to you." He waved the design blueprints he had prepared beforehand in his hand.
