What's hidden in Chapter 936?
"What lies hidden behind this peace? Are you truly willing to let go of past hatreds?"
Hiruzen Sarutobi smiled slightly. "This war no longer allows us to dwell on past hatreds and grudges. The future of the ninja world depends on the choices we make today." He paused, his eyes becoming profound. "Konoha will hold a memorial service for every ninja who has sacrificed their life, but I will not allow more lives to be lost in a meaningless war."
The Raikage's anger was still not appeased. "You make it sound so easy. The sacrifices made by Konoha were indeed heavy, but did you give all of this up for yourselves, or for the future of the ninja world?"
At that moment, Tobirama Senju's voice suddenly rang out, his no-longer-young face filled with deep contemplation: "The end of the war does not mean the fundamental solution to the problem. You must realize that the deep-seated contradictions in the ninja world have not disappeared because of the ceasefire."
His words silenced everyone present for a moment. Even though the Five Kage's decision had brought the Third World War to a halt, each Kage was still filled with doubt and distrust, especially when faced with unresolved old grudges between them, this contradiction became even more apparent.
Zhang Hai stood in a corner of the conference room, his gaze still indifferent, as if all the arguments and negotiations were irrelevant to him. Scorpion, standing beside him, quietly observed him, knowing that Zhang Hai had no intention of stopping; although the war was over, his ideals had not been abandoned.
“This peace is destined to be short-lived,” Sasori said in a low voice, a hint of uncertainty in his eyes. “Do you really think this can change the ninja world? The burden on your shoulders is probably no heavier than anyone else’s.”
A cold smile flashed in Zhang Hai's eyes. "I never expected true peace. True change can only be achieved after the old order of the ninja world collapses." He paused, then turned his gaze to Sasori. "The end of this war may just be the beginning of another."
Scorpion glanced at Zhang Hai and knew that he wasn't simply acting out of a desire for destruction. Zhang Hai's calmness and rationality made it impossible to deny that his actions, though shocking, were driven by a far-reaching objective.
At the same time, Mabuyi quietly entered the conference room, his slightly angry gaze fixed on Zhang Hai. "Do you really think that sacrificing other people's lives is the only way to achieve change? You can give everything for your ideals, but you've made countless innocent lives into tools." His words were filled with strong moral criticism. "What you call change hides behind bloodshed and cruelty."
Zhang Hai stared coldly at Mabui, his eyes devoid of any emotion. "To change the future of the ninja world, necessary sacrifices are unavoidable. I don't expect everyone to understand." His voice was low. "My goal is not to satisfy personal desires, but for a more rational world."
A flicker of pain flashed in Mabui's eyes. "You are no longer the pure Uchiha you once were. Only coldness and scheming remain in your eyes."
He turned and left, still unable to let go of everything Zhang Hai had done.
Zhang Hai's cold response made the atmosphere extremely tense. He stood on the broken rocks, his gaze icy as he stared at Mabuyi in front of him, a barely perceptible sneer on his lips.
"You don't actually think changing the world is just about talking, do you?" Zhang Hai's voice was deep and sharp, as if every word carried a cold, sharp edge. He tilted his head slightly, his gaze sweeping across the rolling clouds in the distance, his tone stern, "You saw the deaths of those 20,000 people, and you think you made some great choice, but you didn't see how devastating the casualties would be if they breached Konoha. You didn't see whether the people I care about would be hurt because of it."
He paused, a ruthless glint in his eyes. "The purpose of changing the world has never been for everyone, but to protect those I care about. If you don't understand this, then leave Zero. We don't need to be mere props for idealists."
Mabuyi was slightly taken aback. She could sense the decisiveness and coldness in Zhang Hai's words. She had always thought she was fighting for a greater ideal, but Zhang Hai's response made her waver. She knew that this man had extraordinary courage and determination, while she herself seemed to be just an idealist in terms of ideas, lacking real execution ability.
"Do you... really think it's worth killing so many people to protect those you care about?" Mabuyi asked in a low voice, her gaze firm yet tinged with helplessness. She longed to understand Zhang Hai's choice, but this choice was unbearable for her.
Zhang Hai didn't answer, only gave her a cold look, then turned and walked towards Scorpion. Scorpion stood there quietly, his eyes peering at Mabuyi through the gaps in his mask, a complex emotion seemingly flashing in them.
“Mabui,” Scorpion’s voice was as calm as ever, “If you decide to withdraw, Zero will erase your memory through an array, allowing you to leave freely. You will not be held accountable in any way.”
"You're no longer hostile towards me?" Mabui looked up, a hint of doubt in her eyes. Her relationship with Scorpion had always been delicate; their former antagonism had become less clear.
Scorpion lowered his head slightly and said slowly, "Yes, I no longer harbor any hostility. Our goals are different, but you are not an enemy either."
Mabuyi remained silent, everything before her seeming complex and heavy. She knew this choice would change her future. Her heart was filled with confusion; her former ideals and beliefs had been partially shattered by Zhang Hai's cold words.
Zhang Hai ignored Mabui's reaction, a glint of excitement flashing in his eyes, seemingly filled with anticipation for the upcoming challenge. He turned his head, looked at the distant sky, and said in a low voice, "I'm not in a hurry to return to Kumogakure with these small country conflicts. I've waited long enough; it's time to seek a greater challenge."
His tone carried a hint of sarcasm and confidence, as if his control over the world was no longer confined to a small corner. His words sent a jolt through Mabuyi; she realized that Zhang Hai wasn't merely trying to change the world, but rather to propel himself to a higher level, to a broader stage without limitations.
As Zhang Hai finished speaking, Scorpion walked to the side and began organizing some equipment. Mabuyi remained silent for a moment, countless thoughts surging in her mind, as if she were trapped in an endless fog.
Just then, Kakuzu's figure suddenly appeared in the distance, his steps hurried and somewhat anxious. Mabui turned her head and looked at Kakuzu, feeling a slight dissatisfaction in her heart. This man was always so selfish, always needing others to handle everything for him.
“Mabuyi,” Kakuzu’s voice was low and urgent, “I need you to help me send the motorcycle that I summoned to my door. I need to use it to get back to the village quickly.”
