Chapter 320: Old Box
Chapter 320: Old Box
Ming Nanjin didn't want to deal with Bei Ming Mo anymore. His heart was burning with anger, and the rage almost made him lose his mind.
Although he knew that taking action now would do them no good, the impulse in his heart was hard to suppress.
"Jin, don't be so impulsive. There is no benefit in fighting Bei Ming Mo now."
Jiang Shiwen frowned and advised anxiously.
His mind remained rational, knowing full well that the consequences of acting impulsively at this moment would be disastrous. "If we really do this now, let alone whether we can escape unscathed, we may not even be able to leave this city. Besides, Xiao Chengcheng is still here with us, waiting for us to return to the hotel. We cannot ignore her safety."
"Jin, calm down. Chengcheng is still waiting for you."
Yan Zeyu also hurriedly agreed, his forehead covered with fine beads of sweat, his eyes full of worry and fear.
Ming Nanjin gritted his teeth, his clenched fists turning white due to the force he exerted. He knew that even if he didn't consider himself, he had to consider his sister.
His sister's innocent smile appeared in his mind, forcing him to suppress the anger in his heart.
"Okay, I get it. Let's hide first."
Ming Nanjin finally calmed down and spoke, with a hint of suppressed anger and helplessness in her voice.
The three people hurriedly looked for a place to hide in the room and finally squeezed into a small cabinet.
Yan Zeyu silently chanted Amitabha in his heart, praying non-stop: "We can't let Bei Ming Mo find us. Bei Ming Mo must not come in and can't see us."
His heartbeat was particularly clear in this small space, like a drumbeat of fear.
It seemed that Yan Zeyu's prayers really worked. Bei Mingmo just passed by the door of the room without even stopping.
The hurried footsteps gradually faded away, but Yan Zeyu and his companions still did not dare to let their guard down. They dared not even breathe and their nerves were still tense.
"Are we going out now?" Yan Zeyu asked in a low voice, with a hint of trembling and uncertainty in his voice.
Ming Nanjin shook his head decisively and said in a low voice: "It's too dangerous to go out now. We need to wait a little longer."
The three of them squeezed into that small cabinet, and time seemed to last infinitely long.
Every minute and every second was torture. They dared not relax at all and listened attentively to the noise outside.
After an unknown amount of time, the noise outside gradually disappeared, as if the whole world had become quiet. After making sure there was no danger, the three of them carefully crawled out of the closet.
Ming Nanjin, Yan Zeyu and Jiang Shiwen huddled in a dark corner of the Beiming family's old house, not daring to breathe. The old house was filled with an old and decayed atmosphere, and every shadow seemed to hide unknown dangers.
"Shh, don't make any noise." Ming Nanjin said in a low voice, his eyes scanning the surroundings vigilantly.
Yan Zeyu's heartbeat was particularly clear in the silence. He swallowed nervously, and beads of sweat covered his forehead. Jiang Shiwen held the flashlight tightly in his hand, and his knuckles turned white from the force.
Suddenly, there was a sound of footsteps in the distance, and the sound echoed in the empty old house, sounding particularly eerie. The three people's bodies tensed up instantly, and Ming Nanjin gestured for everyone to hide deeper.
They moved carefully, trying not to make any noise. The wooden floor beneath their feet made a creaking sound from time to time, and every creak made their hearts rise to their throats.
After much difficulty, they found a room full of junk and quickly hid in it. Ming Nanjin observed the movements outside through the gaps between the junk.
The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and seemed to be heading towards them. Yan Zeyu's breathing became rapid, and Jiang Shiwen covered his mouth tightly, fearing that he would make a sound accidentally.
Just then, a mouse ran past them and hit an old vase. With a "bang", the sound of the vase breaking was particularly loud in the silence.
The footsteps outside stopped abruptly, followed by a brief silence. The hearts of the three people seemed to stop beating, waiting for an unknown fate.
"Who's there?" A low voice sounded. It was Bei Mingmo's men.
Ming Nanjin signaled everyone to keep quiet, his hand slowly reached to his waist, ready to deal with possible danger.
The footsteps sounded again, approaching the room they were hiding in. Just as the door was about to be pushed open, Ming Nanjin discovered a passage leading to the basement in the corner of the room.
"Hurry, go down!" Ming Nanjin said in a low voice.
The three of them quickly entered the passage, which was filled with a damp smell, and water drops from the wall dripped onto their shoulders. They groped their way forward in the dark, taking one deep step and one shallow step.
After walking for a while, I finally saw a ray of light, which was an exit leading to the outside.
"Be careful, there may be an ambush." Ming Nanjin warned.
They carefully poked their heads out and observed, but found that there was no movement outside. So the three of them rushed out quickly and ran desperately towards the direction of the hotel.
Along the way, they didn't dare to stop until they saw the lights of the hotel and then they breathed a sigh of relief.
When we returned to the hotel room, Xiao Chengcheng had already fallen asleep, and her little face looked particularly peaceful in her sleep.
Jiang Shiyu sat on the sofa waiting for the three of them to come back. When he saw them come back, he immediately stood up, looked at the things in their hands, and asked, "What is this?"
Ming Nanjin shook his head, looking tired but with a firm gaze: "We don't know either, but my intuition tells me that there may be important secrets hidden in it."
Yan Zeyu came over and looked at the box carefully: "This box is exquisitely made, and the lock is also very peculiar. It doesn't look like an ordinary thing."
Jiang Shiyu frowned: "Then we have to find a way to open it as soon as possible. Maybe this is the key to solving all the mysteries."
Everyone sat together and began to study how to open this mysterious box.
"How about we break it open by force?" Yan Zeyu suggested.
Ming Nanjin immediately denied it: "No, it would be terrible if there is some mechanism inside and the things inside are damaged."
Jiang Shiyu thought for a moment: "Maybe we can start with the structure of the lock and see if there are any flaws."
So they took out their tools and tried to unlock it carefully. As time passed, beads of sweat appeared on everyone's forehead, but the box was still tightly locked.
"This is not a solution." Ming Nanjin stood up and paced back and forth in the room.
Suddenly, he thought of something: "Have we overlooked something? For example, have we seen any hints or clues related to this box in the old house?"
Yan Zeyu slapped his head and said, "Yes, I was only focused on finding a way to escape, and I might have missed something important."
Jiang Shiyu said: "Then let's think about it carefully again."
After some recollection, Yan Zeyu remembered that there seemed to be some strange symbols on the wall of a room, which were somewhat similar to the patterns on the box.
"Maybe that's the key to opening the box!" Yan Zeyu said excitedly.
So, the three decided to venture back to the old house again to find the room with the symbol.
