Chapter 213 Something interesting
Chapter 213 Something interesting
"So, do you have anything interesting to share?" Anthony asked as he sat at the edge of the boat, holding two wooden oars in his hands. The boat they had built was mediocre, but as long as it stayed afloat, it would serve. Although water occasionally seeped in, they couldn't complain.
In the middle of the boat, there were 7 coconuts; they had decided to leave them out, vastly underestimating the length of the river. They had been at sea for a day already, but on the other end, they could barely make out solid ground.
Persephone looked into Anthony's red eyes and thought for a few seconds. "I guess the only noteworthy thing in my life is that my mother told me that imperial soldiers protected her while she was pregnant with me," she began, looking at the water beneath her. "That's all," she continued. "According to her, she told me I was special, but apparently not so much.
By the time I was a child, the soldiers had disappeared," she concluded, shrugging. "For a moment, I thought I was special, but look at me, I'm a student in class 200," she added with disdain towards herself.
Anthony smiled, but she glared at him. "Do you find it funny?" Perséfone asked angrily. Anthony shook his head. "Your mother was right, you are very special, but you don't know it yet," he said as he looked at her. Confused, Perséfone watched him. "Why?" she asked.
Anthony shrugged, and a smug smile formed on his lips. "Because you're with me," he replied as he continued rowing.
Persephone rolled her eyes. "You're stupid," she said annoyed, pouting. Anthony looked at her and replied, "Your mana is special, which makes you special." She looked at him doubtfully. "Everyone tells me that my magic is disgusting and repulsive," she said, pursing her lips. "They have no idea what they're talking about," Anthony replied firmly.@@@@
Persephone fell silent for a few moments before changing the subject. "And you, what interesting story do you have to tell?" she asked. Anthony pondered for a moment. "I guess the most exciting thing was when I met my wife. Believe me, I almost died at her hands; it was a very bad experience but at the same time not. She cut off an entire arm," he said with a smile.
Aria smiled and introduced her new friend. "Let me introduce you to my new friend, her name is Lysandra Bloodmoon," she said with a smile. The count and countess nodded politely and stood up to greet her with a noble greeting. "She's Anthony Von Valeriano's wife," she added afterwards. The expression on her parents' faces froze for a moment before regaining the smile on their faces.
They knew perfectly well the surname of House Dragon. After chatting for a few minutes, the four of them left the office.
Aria led her guests through the corridors of her house until they reached her room. Once inside, they settled in. "It was a long journey, I'm tired," commented Daniel as he lay down on Aria's bed. She looked at him with dangerous eyes for a moment, but then ignored him. She was already used to it. She sat at the table with Lysandra and Jeane.
After a few moments, a maid entered with a tea jug. "Mila! Come and sit with us," invited Aria. With a shy expression, Mila sat down and began pouring tea into the respective cups. Aria looked at Lysandra with curious eyes. "Tell me, how far have you and your husband gotten?" she asked with a smile.
Jeane and Mila's faces turned red, but they still paid more attention to the conversation.
Lysandra smiled as she took a sip of tea from her cup, but her eyes lost their usual sparkle. "I found out he got another woman," she said calmly. A shiver ran down Aria's spine. During the time they had spent together, both she and Daniel and Jeane had witnessed how Lysandra reacted to the subject of her husband.
Whenever they mentioned something about him, her eyes reflected a deep love and an obsession that was unsettling. Aria swallowed hard, knowing this was a delicate topic; she had also found out that Charlotte Darkwood was engaged to Anthony.
Although she still maintained a smile on her lips, Lysandra's eyes reflected nothing but deep darkness. "After the second event, we'll have a conversation, just the two of us," she added.
