"Who are you?" Yu Mai tilted his head to the side and looked at the little girl who came to look for them.

"I am Ding Nuannuan," the little girl said to Yu Mai as she walked down the small groove where the mers and the girls were standing. She hugged the small doll in her arms and said, "I came to the village a few days ago with my family."

She shyly looked at Yu Mai and said to him, "I have no friends, can I become your friend?" Ding Nuannuan looked rather cute as she looked at Yu Mai with a hint of tentative expression.

"Sure," Yu Mai who did not sense anything amiss nodded while Lang Ru looked at the little girl who had turned up out of nowhere with a frown on her face.

"We are going to collect earthworms," one of the mers answered Ding Nuannuan whose expression changed when she heard that these children were going to dig in the mud and pull out earthworms. "Mai is giving us free chicks to raise!"

Though this was something the children of the village did every now and then, she had never participated in it as she didn't need to. Her grandfather and everyone else treated her like a little treasure so she never had to do something like this before in her life.

Just the very thought of crouching down in the mud and then pulling out those slimy things made her feel disgusted.

Yu Mai made it sound like Yu Dong benevolently handed the chicks to him. But the truth was —-

'Their chirping is making my headache, take them away,' Yu Dong who was woken up by the shrill screams of her husbands and the chirping of the chicks was in a really bad mood.

Yu Mai who stood in the middle of the chick army said in a worried voice, 'How can I hand so many chicks to my friend, they will not take them for no reason.'

'I don't care,' Yu Dong said with a sweet smile that wasn't a smile as she looked at him. 'These chicks have to go..since Mai was the one who caused this trouble then Mai will have to come up with an idea to deal with this trouble. So take away these chicks before I lose my head.'

Yu Mai came to his senses when he heard the voices of his friends.

"You are so sweet, Mai."

The children cheered as they wiped their eyes in happiness. That's right how could they doubt Yu Mai? Yu Dong was so generous when it came to Yu Mai. How could Yu Mai's words be a lie?

Ding Nuannuan listened to the cheers of the children and bit her lips angrily. She thought that if she showed her understanding and caring side, she would be able to win the heart of Yu Dong.

It was Lang Ru. Her eyes were staring at her as if she could see right through her.
