"What thE HELL IS THAT THING!?" No. 7 complained as she was looking at the Shadow Chimera that was fusing right in front of her even though her body was moving instinctively to reload both of the Wand Rifles which she had expended when she felt something was amiss when the Shadow Predators she tagged previously suddenly to start disappeared one by one.
No. 2 was focusing on his escape route that he too did not notice it until No. 7 shouted right back at him, demanding an answer which he was not able to conjure up as well. All he know was that he needed to make sure this particular monster did not consume the War Boar Herd.
The very thing that he had put in so much effort just to ensure that they were still surviving right up to this particular point.
"How would I know? Just kill it!" No. 2 yelled as they believed this was not the time to save up on ammunition nor magic power when he saw the Shadow Chimera, who now had such a weird size and appearance that the Commando Mage could not even idenifty such an abomination.
Multiple pairs of horse legs, probably eight to ten of them from a quick glance. A series of snake like heads right at the back of the Shadow Chimera, with the assumption that it was going to cripple the War Boar Herd with their bites. Perhaps, there would be poison in those fangs or it would be fuelled with shadow magic that enabled such poisoning to occur.
But the most menacing portion of its appearance and probably the most dangerous part of the chimera was the head.
The head of an alligator, with its jaws wide open horizontally, attempting to bite the Veteran War Boars who were protecting the rest of the herd by acting as its rearguard.
The only thing that they were thankful right now was that the War Boar Herd had not been fazed by the Shadow Chimera's new appearance and their reaction was mild based on the reaction of the War Boar Leader who No.2's was mind controlling.
As the ammunition clip popped out of her Wand Rifle, she used her telekinesis to pull out another clip out of her battle vest just to physically hold it so that she knew that the clip was loaded and not a blank one.
With that she inserted the clip and used a combination of telekinesis and physical reloading while using her knee to support the Wand Rifle.
In the meantime, she was balancing right on top at the speed the War Boar was running down the Forest, dodging her head from stray branches that might knock her out and simultaneously charging the separate Wand Rifle so that she can use it for the big attack when the time was right.
Naturally, the initial Earth Wall barrier was eventually broken through as a sign of strength but instead of breaking the remaining Earth Walls, the Shadow Chimera, merely split themselves out, allowing No.7 to once again feel all the tagged preys in her midst once more and later had their signals disappear the moment they combine together for the second time.
While it might just be a gimmick or a feature that the Shadow Predators were utilising, this gave the Commando Mage insight to some vital information which she might not have if the War Boar rear guards did not insist in assisting No.7 in her downtime.
With such a possibility open to her, she knew that her shots must have the surprise element in order to ensure that those Shadow Predators chasing after them would not separate the moment they shot a huge magical shot coming towards with the intent to annihilate them.

And perhaps, No.2 or maybe even the War Boars who now trusted the humans with their lives would be able to assist in such an endeavour. After all, if her attack does not succeed, the Shadow Predators would only get bolder due to the time limit that they have before the sun goes up.
