The Reborn Princess Has Turned Evil

Chapter 231 Autumn Hunting Crisis (5)

Chapter 231 Autumn Hunting Crisis (5)

While trapped, Riley felt a sudden panic. She had originally intended to teach Jing Anle a lesson, but she hadn't expected to fall into the trap herself.

Lai Li looked up and saw that the sky, which had been clear just moments before, was now covered with dark clouds and shadows. She tried to gather her strength to climb out, but failed because of her leg injury. Lai Li simply gave up and waited for Jing Anle to send someone to rescue her. Because she knew that even if Jing Anle disliked her, with her status as the Princess of Southern Xinjiang, she would not truly abandon her.

Lai Li was right, but Jing Anle wanted to delay a little longer. She picked up the golden bow and walked back in the direction they had come from, but after walking for a while, Jing Anle sensed something was wrong. At that moment, a figure flashed quickly through the woods.

"Who?" Jing Anle drew his golden bow, assuming a defensive stance.

"Princess, I am your subject."

As soon as he finished speaking, a woman emerged from the woods.

The sky was a chaotic mess, with dark clouds rolling in, making the woods somewhat gloomy as well.

Upon seeing who it was, Jing Anle's heart finally settled. She lowered the drawn bow and asked suspiciously, "Miss Zhao? Have you been following me all this time?"

The person who arrived was Zhao Yayi.

"Please forgive me, Your Highness. I was only worried about Your Highness's safety." Zhao Yayi immediately bowed, her words revealing her anxiety and earnestness.

When Jing Anle returned from the Qin residence last time, he investigated Zhao Yayi. She had been stationed at the border with her parents for many years and did not have the spoiled air of a young lady from the capital, nor did she have much scheming. Her father, Zhao Xun, was even more upright and loyal. He had served as an official in the frontier for many years and had endured many hardships because he did not flatter or fawn over his superiors.

Jing Anle had long known about Zhao Yayi's secret protection, but there were too many people outside, so she didn't expose it. Now that she saw it, she pretended to ask.

“You have the same demeanor as your father,” Jing Anle said earnestly, looking at Zhao Yayi in front of him.

Zhao Yayi was taken aback. She looked up into Jing Anle's eyes, and as they gazed at each other, some things didn't need to be said aloud.

"You saw everything just now?" Jing Anle asked, referring to the incident of Lai Li falling into the trap.

"Yes," Zhao Yayi blurted out almost without hesitation.

Jing Anle almost laughed out loud. If it were anyone else, they would probably be busy distancing themselves, "Miss Zhao, aren't you going to find someone to save Princess Lai Li?"

Zhao Yayi stared straight at Jing Anle, then shook her head firmly, "I'm not going."

"Oh? Why not go?" Jing Anle became interested.

“As a subject, one must obey the ruler’s commands. My father is loyal to Your Majesty, so I will naturally be loyal to the princess.”

Jing Anle looked Zhao Yayi up and down, noticing her serious and composed expression. Just as Jing Anle was about to say something, Zhao Yayi pushed her away, exclaiming, "Princess, be careful!"

A sharp arrow flew past Jing Anle, narrowly missing her life.

Zhao Yayi reacted quickly, knowing the enemy was lurking in the shadows and that a direct confrontation was not advisable. She grabbed Jing Anle and ran. The two raced through the forest, constantly being hit by stray arrows, making it extremely dangerous.

Jing Anle cursed inwardly, wondering who was so bold as to set up an ambush in the royal hunting grounds.

As Zhao Yayi ran, she observed her surroundings. They were surrounded by dense forest, making it impossible to see the enemy. Zhao Yayi had no choice but to pull Jing Anle to hide.

The two crouched in the deep bushes, not daring to make a sound, but soon, the man in black seemed to have noticed their movements, and arrows were shot in their direction again.

"Princess, you should hide here." Zhao Yayi said in a low voice, and before Jing Anle could reply, she rushed out to fight the two men in black.

Seeing that Zhao Yayi had lured the enemy away, Jing An was determined to run in the opposite direction. Fortunately, he was wearing riding clothes today, which made it much easier to run.

The sky gradually darkened, and suddenly, a clap of thunder sounded. Jing Anle knew that he had to run out immediately to get help, otherwise Zhao Yayi and he would be in grave danger.

She ran for her life, but dared not shout, for fear of alerting the assassin.

Suddenly, Jing Anle heard footsteps behind her, followed by an arrow shot beside her.

Jing Anle didn't dare to look back, she just kept running forward desperately. She deliberately didn't run in a straight line, trying to buy more time. The men in black behind her were chasing after her relentlessly, but as she ran, Jing Anle stopped.

It's a cliff! Jing Anle panicked and ran blindly. How did she end up here? The cliff in front of her was bottomless, and she almost fell off.

Seeing Jing Anle stop, the masked man in black not far away nocked an arrow and prepared to shoot at her.

"Who sent you? Do you know that I am the current Princess?"

"Kill me, and you think you can escape?"

"If you release me, I will reward you handsomely!"

Seeing that neither threats nor bribes worked, Jing Anle started yelling, "Help! Help! Murder!"

But the man in black ignored her completely. Jing Anle stared intently at the chilling arrow, her heart filled with sorrow. Was she really going to die? She hadn't finished what she needed to do.

But it seemed she was powerless. She decided to take a gamble. Just as the arrow was about to hit her, she took a few steps back, leaped, and disappeared into the cliff in an instant...
