Chapter 412 - 239: Spying in Secret
But Divine Blood was different from the Deceitful God’s Power. It meant he would have to directly face a Deceitful God’s true gaze, and he wasn’t sure if his disguise could fool them.
’Even for a Priest, if I don’t have something they truly desire, they’ll never give me the Divine Blood,’ Su Chen mused to himself.
Right now, the only one he had laid the groundwork with was Black Tuo.
’That guy was already salivating over me back on Red Thunder Star. If I use myself as bait, I might actually be able to lure it out of him.’
He definitely couldn’t use the Great Venerable Spirituality as a reason again, but Su Chen himself might be even more valuable.
With Black Tuo locked in as his target, the next step was to ensure his disguise wouldn’t be seen through.
’I can’t use a similar Sacrificial Array again,’ Su Chen thought. ’That means I can only use a form of prayer, denying him the chance to descend. But if I do that, can the Divine Blood even be transferred?’
This delved into the true internal secrets of the Deceitful God Sect. No relevant information circulated in the outside world, so he could only rely on himself to figure it out.
’I should play it safe.’ Su Chen looked up at the extinguished dark sphere in the sky, and an idea stirred within him.
’What if I wait for the Flame Fire to reignite, then contact Black Tuo through prayer at the border?’
’That way, I’ll have a flexible position. Even if I don’t succeed this time, he won’t be able to discover my true identity.’
Su Chen thought it over carefully; the method seemed viable.
He had also been cramming basic information recently. The Flame Fire was extremely lethal to Netherworld Creatures and even acted as a powerful deterrent against the Deceitful Gods.
This was the fundamental reason the faction possessing the Flame Fire could excavate all sorts of resources in the Nether Realm.
Otherwise, how could these great Deceitful Gods stand by and watch them run rampant in the Nether Realm?
Even for the Bronze Sect, whose Flame Fire had been extinguished and reignited and was clearly problematic, no Netherworld Creatures on the level of a Deceitful God had come to cause trouble.
’But I’ll have to wait until I’m Tier Five. With my current Spiritual Power, even if I get the Divine Blood, I probably won’t be able to take it with me.’
At this thought, Su Chen estimated the time again. He had only just arrived in the Nether Realm, and there were still a full eleven hours until the Flame Fire reignited.
He decided to head back toward the Netherworld Stone vein, still in his guise as one of the Faceless Ghost Followers.
The same old acquaintances were sprawled on top. They glanced at him, but couldn’t be bothered to pay him any mind.
The Netherworld Creatures below scattered in a panic, but Su Chen didn’t stop them this time.
Just as he was about to speak to the most eye-catching high-tier Netherworld Creature, he was surprised to see that a low-tier Netherworld Creature had remained.
It was that Black Ape from last time... Su Chen looked toward a nearby corner in surprise as the creature watched him timidly.
"You, stay behind for a bit," Su Chen said, pointing.
The Black Ape showed no fear. Instead, it looked rather excited and pounded its chest.
Su Chen paid it no mind. Standing at the foot of the mine, he looked up and locked his gaze on the Netherworld Creature that resembled a centipede with a hundred claws.
"How should I address you?" Su Chen asked.
The Netherworld Creature glanced at him, seemingly surprised. After a moment of silence, it responded, "Call me Centipede Dragon."
"Centipede Dragon?" Su Chen nodded, his expression calm. "My Lord has a command."
The Centipede Dragon’s enormous body came to a sudden halt, as if a mountain had frozen in place.
Then, its body, covered in thick Scale Armor, began to move, emitting a low rumble like shifting rock.
Its ferocious, dragon-like head slowly descended from on high, casting a shadow that reeked of a foul wind down upon Su Chen.
Su Chen could clearly see the viscous liquid between its interlocking fangs and its massive vertical pupils that resembled cracks into an abyss.
"Do you take me for a fool? The God of the Faceless Ghosts has a command for *me*?"
Su Chen’s expression remained calm, but he couldn’t help but feel a little nervous, ready to retreat at a moment’s notice.
He had never dealt with these Netherworld Creatures before and knew even less about their relationship with the Deceitful Gods.
Information like this wasn’t even recorded in the Bronze Sect. Every step he took now was a shot in the dark.
"Then let me rephrase." Seeing his bluff had failed, Su Chen changed his approach and asked, "I’d like to propose a cooperation."
"Cooperation?" The Centipede Dragon’s voice was cold. "I don’t deal with madmen."
’Madmen?’ Su Chen was speechless but continued, "Tell me what you need. We can help each other."
"I want the Heart of Spirit Fire. I want the Source of Spiritual Light. Do you have them? Can you provide them?" The Centipede Dragon’s eyes were frigid as it reeled off a long list of items Su Chen had never heard of.
Su Chen replied nonchalantly, "I do not, but my Lord does. My Lord can bestow them upon you. Do you dare accept?"
At these words, the Centipede Dragon fell silent. It retracted its head and went back to lying prone on the mountain range.
"This is why I don’t like dealing with you madmen. Every other word is ’My Lord, My Lord...’" The Centipede Dragon shook its head, but it also realized that this Deceitful God’s Follower seemed different from the rest.
It pondered for a moment before asking again, "What do you want to cooperate on?"
"I need Netherworld Stone. Do you know of any other locations besides this one?"
"Netherworld Stone? Of course, I know. But what can you give me?" The Centipede Dragon’s massive eyes narrowed.
"What is it you want?" Su Chen asked in return.
"I want an uncontaminated Outer Realm Spirit Body." As it spoke of its desire, Su Chen could see the greed and longing shining in the Centipede Dragon’s pair of eyes.
And it wasn’t just the Centipede Dragon; the few other high-tier Netherworld Creatures nearby also turned their gazes toward them with great interest.
’Outer Realm Spirit Body?’ Su Chen knew, of course, that it was referring to them—the Spirit Bodies.
