Chapter 13 Mask
Chapter 13 Mask
"Hehehe..." Meng Haolin let out a dry laugh, as if anger was being squeezed out of his chest. "Li Yunxiang, don't forget, I didn't delete the video you took the first time you learned to use the Trim command!"
Li Yunxiang's body trembled, and she raised her head. Although tears still clung to her face, the corners of her mouth curled up slightly, and a hint of mockery appeared in her eyes, as if she had suddenly become a completely different person.
Wei Hongsi looked at Li Yunxiang not far away, and several yellow words appeared in his mind's eye.
[Risk Warning!]
"Mr. Meng, you really are not a good teacher. What you teach is dry and boring, and you even have to show off while you're teaching. Tell me, what kind of teacher teaches students like this? How can a teacher show off to students?"
Li Yunxiang raised an eyebrow and turned to look at Meng Haolin. "Because your purpose has never been to teach; you always have other thoughts in your mind, right? It's just a pity that your teaching skills are as poor as your lower body skills. Don't you really know that?"
Meng Haolin's cheek muscles twitched a few times, and he gritted his teeth, demanding, "Why did you do that?!"
"You said I'm only a few years older than your daughter and you felt guilty. So I cooperated by making myself look older. But actually, you just wanted that feeling of guilt, right?"
Li Yunxiang's voice softened, her eyes sparkling with a youthful liveliness. She stood up, pulled off the old-fashioned hairband at the back of her head, and her long hair cascaded down like a black waterfall, instantly softening the contours of her face and shoulders.
To everyone's surprise, the woman seemed to have shed a dried-out outer layer, instantly appearing ten years younger.
Wei Hongsi knew Li Yunxiang's real age, so he wasn't too surprised.
But seeing her suddenly come to life and hearing her almost completely changed voice evoked a feeling that was both familiar and strange.
Thinking of the yellow warning message that had just appeared, he left his seat and moved closer to Li Yunxiang.
At this moment, everyone in the conference room was focused on Li Yunxiang and Meng Haolin, and no one noticed his actions.
"Look, doesn't this version of me make you feel more attracted?" Li Yunxiang chuckled and moved closer to Meng Haolin.
Meng Haolin involuntarily took two steps back, his back hitting the seat behind him. He jolted awake and shoved Li Yunxiang, yelling, "Get out of my way!"
Li Yunxiang slumped to the ground, glancing sideways at Meng Haolin, her mocking smile like a dagger: "Mr. Meng, you really are quite rude. Would you treat your own daughter like this?"
"You...you're a devil!" Meng Haolin pointed at Li Yunxiang, his arm trembling uncontrollably.
Li Yunxiang chuckled a few times, slowly stood up, and moved closer to Meng Haolin again: "You're the one with a guilty conscience, aren't you?"
Meng Haolin took another step back, the chair behind him sliding under the conference table with a jarring creak. He looked up at the ceiling, avoiding Li Yunxiang's gaze: "What you're saying is useless. Do you think you can escape today?"
"Isn't it you who's been running away all along?" Li Yunxiang's voice was full of allure. She took another step forward and suddenly raised her right hand to strike Meng Haolin's neck.
Someone with good eyesight saw that she was holding a shard of porcelain in her hand, but there wasn't even time to warn her.
Meng Haolin was completely unprepared and had no idea that his raised head made him look like a rooster waiting to be slaughtered.
Just when everyone thought Meng Haolin was about to be in trouble, Wei Hongsi suddenly rushed up behind Li Yunxiang, grabbed her hair, and pulled her backward.
Li Yunxiang felt a tightness on the back of her scalp, and a force pulled her head back, but she still desperately stretched out her right arm to swipe.
With a ripping sound, Meng Haolin's shirt was ripped open, and only then did some people exclaim and warn him.
Meng Haolin lowered his head, his face filled with disbelief.
Not only him, but none of the people in the conference room expected Li Yunxiang to suddenly become violent.
The people present were mostly men, and they were all in the company's management. They didn't think that a female service worker could pose any safety threat.
In a meeting room, people don't even consider personal safety; their attention is focused on the issues being discussed.
It is these ingrained perceptions that led them into the black swan blind spot, and after the collapse of multiple cognitive frameworks, they fell into collective dysfunction.
In fact, Wei Hongsi was no exception, but because he had received a warning message beforehand, he was much more vigilant than others, which enabled him to step in in time to help Li Yunxiang.
In the heat of the moment, he couldn't think of much else. The only relatively safe place he could reach was Li Yunxiang's hair.
Li Yunxiang's hair was grabbed and slashed across Meng Haolin's chest before she turned around to stab Wei Hongsi's arm. Wei Hongsi quickly let go and dodged backward.
Meng Haolin had already realized what was happening. Seeing that Li Yunxiang had her back to him, he immediately reached out and pressed on Li Yunxiang's shoulder.
Unable to withstand the force, Li Yunxiang fell backward, her hand gripping the broken porcelain shards as she stabbed herself behind her.
Meng Haolin let out a scream and pulled Li Yunxiang down to the ground.
There were two security guards in the conference room. They reacted quickly, but because they were standing near the door and a bit far from Meng Haolin, they were unable to stop Li Yunxiang immediately.
From the moment Li Yunxiang committed the attack to the moment she fell, only a few seconds had passed. The two security guards were already in front of her, one holding down her wrist and the other holding down her ankle, pressing her firmly to the ground.
Meng Haolin stood up tremblingly and saw a shard of porcelain embedded in his right thigh, one of the broken teacups on the ground. Looking down at his chest, he saw a gash several centimeters long below the tear in his shirt, from which fresh blood was still flowing.
"Hehe..." Li Yunxiang struggled for a few moments but couldn't move. She let out a series of strange laughs, then suddenly her eyes rolled back, she foamed at the mouth, and her body convulsed violently.
"Oh no, she's having an epileptic seizure!" said one of the security guards who was holding Li Yunxiang down.
"Turn her head to the side, or she'll choke." Someone said as they stepped forward, picked up a tray cloth that had fallen to the side, rolled it up, and put it in Li Yunxiang's mouth to prevent her from biting her tongue.
This man was not tall, but he was very sturdy. He was Qiao Yi, the director of the company's logistics department, who had been sitting opposite Wei Hongsi.
Ji Yongsheng walked over and asked, "How's the situation?"
Qiao Yi said, "It looks quite serious."
Ji Yongsheng didn't hesitate at all: "Call an ambulance immediately."
Qiao Yi agreed and ran out to make a phone call.
Ji Yongsheng then asked Meng Haolin, "Mr. Meng, how are you feeling? Should we go to the hospital?"
"No need, I'm fine." Meng Haolin waved his hand, pulled out a chair next to him, and sat down.
He had two wounds, one on his chest and the other on his thigh. His shirt and pants were stained with large patches of blood, which looked a bit scary. In fact, they were just flesh wounds, and he hadn't lost much blood. He just had intermittent throbbing pains that made him break out in a cold sweat.
