Chapter 179 New Image (Part 2)
Wei Hongsi thought for a moment. The project team members had started joining gradually from last week, so it had been exactly two weeks. He then asked Lu Jiaqi, "I'd like to schedule it for the first weekend of next month. What do you think would be a suitable arrangement?"
Lu Jiaqi thought for a moment and said, "I think Saturday afternoon would be more suitable. We can plan some interactive activities to help everyone get to know each other quickly, and then have dinner together. This way, everyone can rest and recharge the next day, and it won't affect their work performance next week."
"As for the location, it would be best to be indoors, or at least to hold some of the activities indoors, because it's just too hot in August."
Wei Hongsi nodded and said, "How about we entrust this matter to you? Our project team plus your work group can do it together as a group, what do you think?"
Lu Jiaqi smiled and said, "Of course, no problem! But how do we calculate the expenses for the team building activity?"
Wei Hongsi said, "We'll take responsibility for this, as long as we don't go too far."
He was able to think of organizing team building activities not only because Lu Jiaqi reminded him, but also because the project department's budget included this expense.
But he had no experience in how or when to spend the money. Since he didn't know, he decided to "outsource" it to someone who did.
The project team members are mostly tech geeks; with the exception of a few like Yuan Zhenhui, most are unmarried and unlikely to have girlfriends. Organizing a team-building activity with these people would likely result in a lackluster atmosphere. However, if some female colleagues joined, the situation would be different; at least the atmosphere would be lively.
Hearing Wei Hongsi say this, Lu Jiaqi realized that their team-building funds were obviously plentiful, and she was genuinely envious. Her work group always struggled to make ends meet when organizing activities, and everyone had to share the costs if they wanted to have a good time.
This is even with her team performing well. Many work groups only manage to get together for a meal during team-building activities. Even within the same company and department, there are significant differences between different work groups.
"General Manager Wei's project team has such great facilities, please include us in your future events."
"OK."
"You're not kidding?"
"Your work group is working with our project team to provide support, so we're not outsiders, are we?"
Lu Jiaqi then jokingly said, "Then why don't you just recruit our work group?"
Wei Hongsi nodded and said, "It's not impossible."
Lu Jiaqi was pleasantly surprised: "Really?"
Wei Hongsi asked with a smile, "Will your General Manager Miao release them?"
Lu Jiaqi smiled and said, "Department Eight doesn't need my team. Small teams like ours aren't that important to the company."
After considering it for a moment, Wei Hongsi said, "I'll handle this."
During the project preparation stage, he had already considered Lu Jiaqi. However, at that time, he didn't know what level his project team would be at, and felt that poaching a W2 level manager was unrealistic. So, he settled for second best and thought of asking Lu Jiaqi to recommend a few people.
Once the CDD project team was established, Wei Hongsi revived his previous idea and assigned Lu Jiaqi's work group to provide on-site support, which served as a transition.
Because the project team didn't have much external coordination work in the early stages, Wei Hongsi was responsible for external connections in terms of technical research and development. There wasn't much work to assign to Lu Jiaqi, so it would be a waste of resources to transfer her work group over.
But plans are subject to change. The release of an animated film containing a "psychological virus" in Country K caused many things to be rapidly accelerated.
For example, the implementation of the "Standard for Assessing the Subconscious Influence of Video Content" would normally take at least one or two months, but it was done in just a few days.
Although it is currently only used for reviewing overseas video content, it will soon be fully implemented, covering all areas related to video content.
The CDD project team will be handling a lot of related work, all of which requires external coordination. Therefore, it is very appropriate to bring Lu Jiaqi's work group over to take unified command at this time.
Even if Wei Hongsi doesn't mention it, the company will provide him with a team to handle this kind of work.
Wei Hongsi wasn't sure what Lu Jiaqi was thinking before, and had planned to talk to her about it next week. Now that Lu Jiaqi brought it up herself, it's as if they were on the same page.
Having worked with Lu Jiaqi for some time, he was very satisfied with her work ability and interpersonal skills. The team-building suggestion she just mentioned also made up for one of his shortcomings. Having such a work partner would save him a lot of trouble.
Furthermore, it's quite remarkable that Lu Jiaqi was able to bring her team members to help with the "moving," which made Wei Hongsi very optimistic about her and her team.
Don't underestimate this seemingly small thing; there aren't many small team leaders in the workplace who can do this.
The team leader isn't the boss who pays salaries, so their influence over team members is relatively limited. Work-related tasks can be pushed down, and people might complain a bit, but they'll tolerate it for the sake of performance.
Moving things and cleaning are not part of their job responsibilities, so they can easily shirk their duties. If they encounter someone with a bad temper, they can even argue back: "The company has dedicated environmental maintenance staff. This is not our job!"
Therefore, Wei Hongsi felt that it was more reliable to transfer Lu Jiaqi's entire work group over than to start a new team, even if Lu Jiaqi was to lead the group, it would still take some time to get them working together.
Since he wants to use this team, it's more appropriate for him to submit the application. Although Lu Jiaqi said that, after all, she had worked in the Eighth Department for so long, it was hard to say that President Miao wouldn't have any thoughts.
Lu Jiaqi was pleased to hear Wei Hongsi say he would coordinate, and said, "Thank you so much, Mr. Wei!"
Wei Hongsi smiled and said, "President Lu, please don't be so polite. I look forward to your team joining us."
Lu Jiaqi said, "Oh, please don't call me President Lu anymore. I'm several years older than you. Why don't you just call me 'sister'?"
Wei Hongsi nodded and said, "Okay, Sister Lu."
Lu Jiaqi smiled and said, "Thank you."
If Wei Hongsi were a bit older, she really wouldn't have dared to be so eager to be recruited.
They talked for so long, and the office door remained open, partly to avoid suspicion. If one isn't careful, these kinds of things will inevitably be noticed by those with ulterior motives. Workplace gossip is hard to guard against, and Wei Hongsi was afraid she wouldn't be able to handle the consequences if it affected her.
Therefore, maintaining an appropriate distance based on age difference is essential. In future work interactions, using this form of address can remind those around you of this, avoiding unnecessary misunderstandings.
Wei Hongsi understood Lu Jiaqi's intention and readily complied.
