Chapter 41 The Hunt
Chapter 41 The Hunt
The three left the area around the school.
A flicker of fear crossed Kana Kimishima's face. "Where are you taking me?"
"Don't be so nervous, we're members of the Parasitic Creatures Special Investigation Team," Roy said with a smile.
Kana Kimishima looked puzzled. "A parasitic organism?"
Roy said meaningfully, "Can't you sense the special wavelengths they emit?"
Kana Kimishima was startled. She focused her mind and occasionally sensed a special signal, but she had never told anyone about it.
"Your task is to help us find those parasites," Roy said. In fact, his lie was full of holes. If it were really an official agency, there would be no need to block people at the school gate.
But at this moment, Kana Kimishima was in a state of utter confusion and had no time to investigate their identities.
"Kana!"
Just as the three of them rounded the bend, Izumi Shinichi caught up, panting, and called out to them.
"Izumi-san!" Kimishima Kana exclaimed excitedly.
Seeing Shinichi Izumi's somewhat immature face, Roy roughly understood the current timeline.
"Who are you people?"
Shinichi Izumi was about to rush forward when Yu's voice rang in his ears, filled with intense fear, "Wait, Shinichi, don't come any closer!"
Shinichi Izumi stopped in his tracks. This was the first time he'd seen Yu react this way. He lowered his voice and asked, "What's wrong? Yu, Kana's still over there!"
"Shinichi, if your strength is 10, mine is 180, and that girl's is over 500." Ayu gestured for him to look at Ryu next to Roy.
This number left Izumi Shinichi speechless with astonishment. His face grew even more anxious. "A parasitic organism?"
"No, she doesn't have our wavelength, but she's not an ordinary human either. It's really surprising. Who exactly are they?" Ah You replied.
"Don't be so nervous. Since we're already here, let's go together!" Roy said.
Sensing no hostility from Roy and Ryu, Shinichi Izumi and Yu followed cautiously behind them.
The four of them found a family-run restaurant.
Kana Kimishima told Shinichi Izumi about Roy's fake identity, but he was clearly not as easy to fool as Kana, especially since there was a smart parasite living on his right hand that could use a computer on its own.
Roy first looked at Shinichi Izumi, "Did your parents go on a trip?"
"They just left yesterday." Shinichi Izumi felt confused. The topic had shifted to his parents, and the other party looked to be a boy even younger than him.
Roy, with a compassionate heart, said, "That's terrible. Get them out of there right away."
Why?
Roy's expression gave Shinichi Izumi a bad feeling, and his voice trembled slightly.
Roy recalled the plot for a moment and chuckled, "There have been murders in that area, but the news didn't specify who did it. Who do you think did it?"
thump!
Shinichi Izumi suddenly stood up, his face contorted in a grimace. Parasitic creature!
The loud thud of the chair falling to the ground drew the attention of everyone else in the family dining room.
"Sorry, I went out to make a phone call." Shinichi Izumi apologized to everyone and hurriedly walked out.
"Young people are really impatient."
Roy complained that it seemed inappropriate for someone his age to say such things, but Ryu and Kimishima Kana both tacitly agreed that an old monster was lurking inside that body.
"Can you trust us now?" Roy asked, looking at Kana Kimishima.
Kana Kimishima nodded, lowering her guard. She knew that only a state agency could know her secret and the inside story of the murder case in the news.
"Then let's go find the parasite!"
After the three of them had eaten and drunk their fill, they left the family restaurant and began to wander the streets, using Kimishima Kana's special senses to search for the parasitic creature.
Perhaps it was a newbie protection period, because in less than half an hour, they actually encountered a parasitic creature.
"That man in the hat," Kimishima Kana said tremblingly, pointing to the couple in front of her.
Kana Kimishima can emit signals that allow each other to know where they are, like a parasitic organism. However, her signals travel very short distances, which causes the other party to not notice her. It is a natural protective shield.
The couple entered the underground parking lot.
Roy and his two companions followed closely behind. The other party seemed too focused on his prey to notice that he was being followed. They secretly observed him from a distance of thirty or forty meters.
"What are you going to do in such a dark place?" The girl was unaware of the danger that was about to befall her.
"I'll turn you into my food." Having arrived at this place, the young man stopped pretending and remained expressionless.
"Ugh, that's so rude."
The girl's face was rosy, but the moment she turned around, she turned deathly pale with fright.
Her boyfriend's face was split open, forming several long arms that danced in mid-air, reflected on the wall by the dim lights of the underground parking lot, clearly a terrifying sight.
"Aaaaaahh ...
The girl let out a piercing scream.
A long arm, its tip transforming into a sharp blade, slashed towards her at a speed invisible to the naked eye.
A golden figure appeared as if in a flash, wielding a wooden sword to block the parasitic creature's blade for the girl, the crisp sound of metal clashing together ringing out.
Bang!Bang!Bang!
Both sides swung their weapons rapidly, and intense sparks flew continuously in mid-air from the collision.
"The same kind? No, who exactly are you...?"
The young man showed the same disbelief as Ah-you, believing that humans could not possibly possess such power.
They even far surpass the creatures they parasitize!
boom!!
Liu used her elven light to deflect all the parasitic creature's blades, rushing forward like a gust of wind, grabbing the young man's head with her small hand and slamming it heavily against the wall.
The immense force caused the wall to crack in all directions, and the young man's head was smashed to pieces.
The terrified girl remained inside, while Roy and his two companions quickly left, not wanting to attract the attention of the police.
After this battle, Kana Kimishima became completely convinced of the existence of the parasitic creature and Roy's fabricated identity. The elf girl's powerful strength and decisive style also greatly shocked her.
There are more parasites hiding in human society than we imagined. After five or six hours of searching, Roy and his team managed to find four more.
Most of them just show up and start working.
There is also a parasitic creature that is quite insidious and knows how to hide its identity.
"No, I'm human! What do you want? I'll give you all the money I have."
Seeing Liu closing in step by step, the middle-aged man kept retreating and tried to defend himself.
But once attacked, it immediately reveals its true form.
His face was expressionless, and his head became a sharp blade.
The result was unsurprising: the elven girl completely dominated them. Ordinary parasitic creatures are equivalent to LV.2 monsters. Because they have some thinking ability, they are even more difficult to deal with than monsters, but they have no skills or magic, so experienced LV.2 adventurers can handle them.
According to Roy's guess, the dungeon's level cap is LV.4, which is indeed due to that big boss, Goto!
