Chapter 181 The Uneasy "Sun"
Chapter 181 The Uneasy "Sun"
Chapter 181 The Uneasy "Sun"
Monday, 3 PM.
Thick, grayish-white fog appeared precisely on time, engulfing Sirion's vision.
He suppressed his instinct to resist and yielded to the pull that appeared out of nowhere in his mind. His vision blurred for a moment, and then he found himself in that magnificent, timeless palace.
Good afternoon, Mr. Fool.
Miss Justice was still the first person to stand up and bow to the Fool.
After a simple greeting, and receiving a gentle nod in response from "The Fool," she turned to greet everyone, including Sirion.
After a brief greeting and mutual nods, "Justice" Audrey turned again and addressed "The Fool" Klein, who was at the head of the table:
"Mr. 'Fool,' I have three new pages in Russell's diary."
"The Fool" Klein nodded slightly and chuckled:
"That's right. What do you hope to get in exchange for those three pages of the diary?"
Audrey fell into deep thought, while two invisible little figures above her head were arguing fiercely.
After a few seconds of silence, she chose to satisfy her curiosity over gaining some helpful occult knowledge.
"The Fool, may I take a look at that blasphemous card?"
I know that the value of these three pages of Russell's diary is far less than the information on that blasphemous plaque; I only need to glance at it.
"Yes, I will search for and memorize more of Russell's diary entries to make up for this difference."
"The Fool" Klein chuckled as he looked at the "frank" Miss "Justice":
"Heh...okay."
Audrey's eyes lit up, and she felt a surge of excitement and barely concealed joy.
...That's a blasphemous plaque that records the secret to becoming a god, although I roughly know what that secret is.
Her thoughts were slightly unsettled. She took a deep breath, calmed herself down, and with the help of "The Fool," materialized the three pages of the diary.
At the very top, "The Fool" Klein stretched out a hand, and the three pages of the materialized diary appeared directly in his hand.
"February 23, 1143. I've been in this world for over a week now. I need to write something down and express some things, otherwise I feel like I'll go crazy." The three pages of diary submitted by Miss Justice didn't contain much useful content. He quickly finished reading them and made the diary disappear from his hand.
Then, under the expectant gaze of "Justice" Audrey, he lightly tapped the table with his finger, causing the face-down card to vanish into thin air.
Then it appeared out of nowhere in front of Audrey.
This change caused everyone on both sides of the weathered long table to turn their gazes toward "Justice" Audrey with curiosity, inquiry, and a hint of barely perceptible envy.
Audrey held her breath and reached out to touch the playing card that was floating in front of her. It was no bigger than the palm of her hand and depicted Emperor Roselle wearing full black armor, a dark cloak, and a crown.
The moment she touched the cards, she felt a spiritual fluctuation, and then lines of Old Fussack words appeared on the cards:
Sequence 9: Lawyer...
Sequence 8: Barbarian...
Sequence 2: The Duke of Entropy...
Sequence 1: Prince Killed...
Audrey's gaze swept quickly over the names of each sequence, but she didn't bother to memorize the potion recipes. Although it was a complete and extraordinary path, it wasn't that important to her, who had already chosen her path.
Knowing the names of the various sequences was enough to satisfy her curiosity... Of course, I would be very interested in the secrets of the gods.
As her thoughts drifted, her gaze fell upon the last few lines of small print:
Sequence 0: Black Emperor Main Materials: Three "Slaughtering Prince" Extraordinary Traits, "Black Emperor" Uniqueness.
Supporting materials: ...
Just as she was engrossed in watching, the playing cards in front of her suddenly disappeared.
...Wow, that was fast.
Slightly disappointed, Audrey quickly composed herself, glanced at the "Fool" at the head of the mottled long table, and then sat up straight.
Klein glanced around at everyone, then said slowly:
"You may begin."
Upon hearing Mr. Fool announce the official start of the party, Derrick the Sun, who had been showing signs of anxiety since the beginning, quickly turned to look at Sirion and said:
"Mr. 'Fate,' because I've been imprisoned at the bottom of the Round Tower after exhibiting signs of losing control, I'm temporarily unable to help you obtain the Soul Eater's stomach."
Upon hearing this, Sirion waved his hand dismissively and replied:
"It's alright, I'm not in a hurry."
But I'm really anxious! I've been stuck in the "apprentice" track for so long, and I've finally seen a glimmer of hope for promotion!
"The Magician" Fors kept shouting in his heart, but he always maintained a neutral smile on his face.
Beside her, the observant and righteous Audrey suddenly interjected, asking:
"Mr. 'Sun,' you seem troubled. Is it because things aren't going well with your attempt to fake a loss of control?"
Derrick shook his head, then said with a hint of hesitation:
"No, that matter went smoothly, it's just..."
"At the bottom of the round tower where I am currently in isolation and treatment, there is a powerful sacred relic guarding the place. It is the key to how our Silver City has been able to hold out in the darkness for so long. I... I am worried that the sacred relic will discover my departure."
He paused, then turned to look at the "Fool" at the head of the table, asking with curiosity and worry in his eyes.
Don't look at me, I don't know either. I don't even know what this "holy relic" you're talking about is.
Klein muttered a few words to himself, then lightly tapped the edge of the long table with his finger and replied casually:
"Normally, it wouldn't be able to detect it."
"But some magical items have unique effects."
Derrick nodded and hummed in agreement, then said:
"I don't know the specific effects of that sacred object either; it's one of Silver City's top secrets."
After he finished speaking, Sirion picked up his hands and asked curiously:
"Could you describe what you saw or felt about that sacred object? You should have been able to notice something unusual when you were in close contact with it."
Derrick hesitated for a moment, but out of trust in Sirion, he revealed some of his findings:
"On my first day locked at the bottom of the tower, the extraordinary person next to me completely lost control."
"At that time, he lost control and attacked the walls of the room wildly. I saw one slow bulge after another appear on the thick metal wall that separated the two rooms from us."
"Just as I was about to unleash my extraordinary abilities, I saw a flash of silver light, and then the room next to mine went silent, as if space itself had been cut off."
"After the surroundings became quiet, I heard footsteps coming from a great distance."
"That's all I've observed."
"Hmm." Xi Ruien nodded almost imperceptibly, looking thoughtful.
Perhaps he was so focused and serious in his contemplation that for a moment, no one around him spoke.
Everyone watched him quietly, waiting for this most learned member, whom everyone unanimously agreed upon besides Mr. "The Fool," to offer his insights.
Snapping out of his daze, Cyril glanced at the silent crowd with a puzzled look, then turned to Little Sun and said:
"There are many ways to achieve the scenario you described, but considering that your Silver City mainly uses the 'Giants' method, the relic you mentioned should be a high-sequence sealed artifact belonging to the 'Giants' method."
"To be called a sacred object, it should be at the angelic level. In the presence of the 'God of War,' it should correspond to the 'Glory' of the 'Giant' pathway, Sequence 2."
"This path leans towards straightforward combat, with almost no fancy or unusual extraordinary abilities, so it doesn't have the capability to discover any special abilities you possess."
Hearing Cyril's account, "The Sun" Derrick finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"That's good...""
As he whispered, he suddenly remembered the extraordinary person next door who had been imprisoned for 42 years, and his conversation with him, so he asked:
"Mr. Destiny, have you ever heard of Amon?"
...I've not only heard of it, I've seen it.
In the blink of an eye, a strange, inexplicable feeling welled up in Sirion's heart. Just as he was about to investigate, the feeling quietly disappeared.
He frowned and looked down at the quietly flowing gray-white mist at his feet... Was it the power emanating from the "Source Castle" that was hindering his inspiration?
After a moment's thought, he gave up the search; now was not the right time.
Taking a deep breath to calm himself, he turned to look at Derrick and answered the question he had just asked:
"Ammon is the second son of the 'Ancient Sun God,' and one of the eight angel kings who follow him. He is a blasphemer, a god of deception, and a dangerous figure whom even the gods must be wary of."
At this point, he subconsciously glanced at the head of the table, "The Fool" Klein.
