Chapter 12 Thief
Chapter 12 Thief
"Just kidding, you actually took it seriously?" Chu Xinglan chuckled as her prank succeeded.
"You little brat, you scared me to death! I thought you'd been traumatized and your sexual orientation had changed." Shu Weiting breathed a sigh of relief.
"If I really changed my sexual orientation, would you risk your life to be with me?"
Chu Xinglan continued jokingly, hooking Shu Weiting's delicate chin with her finger and teasing her.
"I'll pay for your head, and if you dare to change your sexual orientation, I'll break off all ties with you immediately."
Shu Weiting angrily shook off her hand, gritting her teeth.
"It's a good thing you're normal, otherwise I would be the one breaking up with you." Chu Xinglan chuckled again.
"Alright, stop fooling around. To celebrate your housewarming, we have to treat you to a meal tonight."
After their playful banter, Shu Weiting took Chu Xinglan's hand seriously and said...
"Of course we should celebrate!" Chu Xinglan nodded immediately.
"Let's make this clear beforehand, I won't pay for you again." Shu Weiting was afraid that Chu Xinglan would make her pay again.
"No, don't worry," Chu Xinglan chuckled. "Who's really obsessed with money here?"
"Miss Chu, even brothers keep clear accounts. Besides, this is a matter of principle." Shu Weiting rolled her eyes at Chu Xinglan.
"Okay, okay," Chu Xinglan said with a grin.
The two chatted and laughed as they walked towards the small building.
After buying some necessities for the family, Chu Xinglan sat on the bed and called her parents.
Mr. and Mrs. Chu then learned that Chu Xinglan had moved out.
"So fast? Why didn't you tell us?" Mrs. Chu said, somewhat angrily.
"I just found a suitable house and I've been busy all day, so I finally had time to call you," Chu Xinglan lied without batting an eye.
"Where are you now? You didn't take your clothes or anything. Tell me your address so I can deliver them to you." Mrs. Chu wanted to get Chu Xinglan's address out of her.
"No need, Mom. I've already bought new clothes and have all the daily necessities I need. I don't need you to send any more over." Chu Xinglan was not about to fall for her trick.
To avoid arousing suspicion, she specially brought out a laptop, which was far more important to her than the clothes.
She's not one to compromise herself, so everything in her new home was brand new. The quilt she was sitting on was picked out with her best friend Shu Weiting, and all her clothes were brand new.
"Although our family's money is not a big deal, you should still be more frugal. The clothes at home are all new, why did you buy more?" Mrs. Chu said unhappily.
Chu Xinglan pursed her lips.
At this point, she suddenly became frugal. She used to buy all sorts of expensive clothes, jewelry, designer bags, and imported cosmetics without batting an eye. She wore clothes that her mother had outgrown. A girl in her twenties was dressed in styles that women in their forties wore. Her jewelry was pitifully scarce, and her cosmetics were cheap. Fortunately, she was naturally beautiful, and even inconspicuous clothes could not hide her stunning looks.
"I understand. I'll be more careful next time and won't waste money again."
Chu Xinglan just wanted to end the call as soon as possible.
"Lanlan, it's not that your parents are heartless, but we've put several million yuan in your account, and we won't be giving it to you anymore, so you'd better figure it out yourself." Mrs. Chu's tone became more serious.
"Okay, Mom, that's all for now, I'm hanging up."
"Wait a minute, Lanlan, where do you live? I need to come find you," Mrs. Chu asked hurriedly.
But Chu Xinglan had already hung up the phone. She did it on purpose so as not to tell Mrs. Chu her address.
After finishing the phone call and washing up, Chu Xinglan quickly fell asleep. Around midnight, she vaguely heard a rustling sound. At first, she thought it was a hallucination, but as the sound became clearer, she suddenly woke up.
Has a thief broken into the house?
Chu Xinglan had a bad feeling. Could she be that unlucky? She had just moved in and a thief had already broken into her house?
Chu Xinglan stood at the door and listened attentively.
There was definitely noise outside the bedroom, like footsteps. Chu Xinglan's heart suddenly leaped into her throat; it was pitch black...
If she suddenly turns on the light and disturbs the thief, it's hard to say whether she'll be killed to silence him, but her innocence will probably be lost.
Although she had lost her innocence, she didn't want any strange men to touch her body again.
Chu Xinglan became increasingly frightened as she thought about it, so she quickly and secretly called her best friend, Shu Weiting.
"You brat, calling me so late, are you afraid of the dark if you sleep alone? Let me tell you, I'm not going to go that far to keep you company." Shu Weiting yawned and said with a grin.
"Tingting, a thief broke into my house." Chu Xinglan didn't dare to speak loudly, afraid that the thief would hear her and she didn't know what the consequences would be.
"Which family?" Shu Weiting hadn't reacted yet.
"This is my new home," Chu Xinglan said softly.
"Really? It can't be that weird, right? We've only been here for a day and we've already been robbed?" Shu Weiting gasped. She quickly reassured her friend, "Lanlan, don't panic. Don't provoke them. Those people are capable of anything if they dare to break into your home."
Chu Xinglan thought the same thing, so she dared not make a sound, and she dared not go out and let the thugs find her.
"Lanlan, find a safe place, and whatever you do, don't let the criminals find you!"
"I'm in the bedroom right now, and the assailant probably hasn't noticed that I'm awake."
"Okay, that's it. Lock the bedroom door from the inside. Don't panic, don't be afraid, I'll come to rescue you right away!" Shu Weiting didn't dare to hesitate. She put on her clothes and prepared to rescue her best friend.
Chu Xinglan leaned against the door and listened outside. The rustling sound was still there, and the light footsteps had not disappeared.
What puzzled Chu Xinglan was why the thug kept lingering outside. There was nothing of value outside, and a smart thug should know that valuables could only be found in the bedroom, but the thug didn't come towards the bedroom. The sound seemed to be coming from the kitchen.
What kind of thief would steal from the kitchen? What else could be in the kitchen besides pots and pans? Oh, I forgot about the refrigerator, but such a big refrigerator is inconvenient to move. And judging from the footsteps, it seems like only one person is involved, so it's even more impossible to move it.
Unable to suppress her curiosity, Chu Xinglan secretly opened the bedroom door and slowly walked towards the kitchen by the moonlight streaming through the window. The closer she got to the kitchen, the clearer the sound became.
There was indeed someone in the kitchen, and her refrigerator had already been opened.
Was this thief here to steal something, or just to freeload?
She wanted to see just what kind of thug this was!
Chu Xinglan thought for a moment, then clicked the switch on the kitchen light.
