Chapter 33 The Abandoned Factory
Chapter 33 The Abandoned Factory
In that instant, a faint yet clearly audible sound reached my ears.
Instinctively, I turned my head to look toward the source of the sound.
However, when my eyes fell on that figure, I was completely stunned and incredibly surprised—it was Lu Yun! I remained calm and reacted quickly, glancing at him before turning back immediately.
I thought to myself, "I'm so lucky to have met someone I once had a life-or-death bond with so quickly." But we had no connection whatsoever; we were practically strangers.
My mind was filled with doubt and confusion: Why did he come here? Had something special happened?
Don't blame me for overthinking; it's just that everything that's happened recently makes it hard not to.
At the same time, Lu Yun also noticed my presence. His previously calm face instantly turned into one of utter astonishment, as if he had been struck by lightning.
His eyes were wide open, like two quail eggs embedded in his face. He stood frozen in place, as if under a spell, not daring to breathe.
Time seemed to freeze at that moment, and everything around seemed to become silent.
"Ah..." Lu Yun involuntarily let out a gasp, his eyes wide open, staring intently at the familiar yet hateful figure in front of him—Huan Yuechu!
I never expected her to appear here! Ever since that incident, an indelible shadow has been cast in my heart, and I am filled with resentment towards her.
Whenever I recall that horrific scene, my body trembles uncontrollably. And the culprit behind all of this is the woman before me—Huan Yuechu.
If Huan Yuechu hadn't insisted on meddling and interfering, things wouldn't have escalated to such an uncontrollable point, and I wouldn't be in such agony and feeling like I'm living a life worse than death.
Thinking of all this, Lu Yun's anger erupted like a volcano, and he wished he could rush up and confront Huan Yuechu to make her pay for everything she had done.
However, reason told Lu Yun that he could not act impulsively, after all, with his current strength, he was far from being able to confront her head-on.
But the deep resentment in his heart always followed him like a shadow, tormenting every nerve in his body.
Chongyang smiled and replied, "Of course! There are many beautiful scenic spots and interesting activities here. For example, you can go up the mountain to enjoy the scenery or go fishing by the river."
Lu Yun gripped the back of his left hand tightly with his right hand, so tightly that his knuckles turned slightly white, but he seemed not to notice, his face remaining calm and still without the slightest ripple.
However, upon closer inspection, one could detect a fleeting, almost imperceptible glint of cunning in Lu Yun's deep, pool-like eyes.
He raised the corners of his mouth slightly, revealing a faint smile, and said softly, "Thank you, that sounds really good! To be honest, I've only just stepped into this bustling city, and everything here still feels very unfamiliar and novel."
Chongyang said warmly, "If you don't mind, we can go together and I can be your tour guide."
Lu Yun smiled gratefully, "That's wonderful! I was just feeling bored by myself!"
I have absolutely no interest in going out to play.
So, without hesitation, I waved my hand and said, "You two go have fun! I still have some things to finish here, so I won't join in the fun! But I sincerely hope you have a great time and have a lot of fun!"
Seeing Huan Yuechu's kind demeanor towards people, Lu Yun thought to himself, "Hypocritical."
When Chongyang heard that I could not go with him, a look of regret appeared on his face.
However, he thought again that his trip was to help others, so how could he let this little regret affect his mood?
He quickly put those regretful thoughts aside and began to concentrate on planning where to go.
After some discussion, the two decided to go out for a trip together the next day.
They will explore this bustling city together, and perhaps many more unexpected things await them.
Chongyang took Lu Yun to the mountains, and the two chatted idly along the way, enjoying their conversation.
Upon reaching the mountaintop, Lu Yun looked down at the city below and was filled with emotion.
"What a beautiful city..." Lu Yun exclaimed sincerely.
He secretly thought that the more beautiful something is, the more poisonous its venom is. Lu Yunyou's deep gaze was fixed on what lay ahead.
Chongyang nodded and smiled, "Yes, this place is full of life and vitality. However, it may still feel a bit unfamiliar to you since you're new here?"
Lu Yun smiled slightly, "Yes, a little. But I believe that as time goes by, I will gradually adapt to life here... By the way, do you often come here to go hiking?"
“Yes, I like standing on high places and looking into the distance; it feels wonderful,” Chongyang replied. “What about you? What are your hobbies?”
"As for me..." Lu Yun thought for a moment, "I enjoy reading, and I've read all kinds of books."
"Oh? Then you must be very knowledgeable?" Chongyang asked curiously.
"I suppose so..." Lu Yun smiled slyly. "Actually, reading can not only increase knowledge, but also broaden horizons and benefit people a lot."
The two chatted and enjoyed the scenery, and before they knew it, the sun was already setting.
"It's getting late, let's go down the mountain," Chongyang suggested, glancing at his watch.
“Okay.” Lu Yun nodded and followed Chongyang on their journey home.
On their way down the mountain, Lu Yun and Chongyang discovered a secluded path. Driven by curiosity, they decided to follow it and see what it was all about.
As they walked, they came to an abandoned factory. An eerie atmosphere permeated the factory, and strange noises could be heard from time to time.
Chongyang was a little scared and suggested turning back.
But Lu Yun was eager to explore this mysterious place.
Just as they were hesitating, a dark figure swept past them. Startled, the two quickly gave chase.
The shadowy figure slipped into a room and disappeared. Lu Yun and Chongyang cautiously entered the room and found it filled with old machinery and miscellaneous items.
In a corner, they found a yellowed diary. The diary's owner seemed to have experienced something terrible here…
Lu Yun picked up the diary, turned to the first page, which read: "I saw something I shouldn't have seen here..."
Chongyang leaned closer nervously, "What does this mean?"
Lu Yun frowned and continued flipping through the pages; each page contained a record of some bizarre events.
Suddenly, the lights in the room flickered, and the atmosphere became even more eerie.
