Chapter 83 By the Window
Chapter 83 By the Window
Zhang Zhenzhen glanced at Ji Yuanzhou, who was desperately holding the door shut, then looked back at the nearly tall wardrobe behind her, a resolute glint in her eyes.
She gave up blocking the door, leaving Ji Yuanzhou there alone. She ran into the closet, slammed the door shut, and curled up inside, hugging herself tightly.
Ji Yuanzhou: !!!
With one less person pushing the door open, the other side quickly couldn't hold on any longer.
A sharp claw pierced through the door panel and stabbed into Ji Yuanzhou's arm. Blood flowed down, and he cried out in pain. Then the door lock fell off.
This cannot go on.
So Ji Yuanzhou gave up blocking the door and immediately went around to a cabinet at the back and hid inside.
He covered his bleeding wound and peered through the cracks in the cabinet, observing the situation outside.
After he left, the entire door to the locker room shattered on the floor, and the mutated people scrambled to squeeze in.
They paced back and forth in the small changing room, searching for their escaped prey.
Not long after, Miao Yin and Tu Hao also came in.
The lower-level mutants had little intelligence; their first reaction was to attack them, only to be burned to ashes by the molten fire. Only then did the remaining few retreat.
Miao Yin looked around and knew that the two people had hidden in the closet.
The cabinets are all made of sheet metal and are quite sturdy. As long as they don't make any noise, they can indeed fool the deformed people.
But she wasn't going to let them just give up like that.
Miao Yin strolled leisurely past one cabinet after another, her shoes making a "tap, tap, tap" sound on the floor tiles.
Every sound seemed to dance on her heart. Listening to the approaching footsteps, Zhang Zhenzhen covered her mouth and looked fearfully through the crack in the cabinet door.
Suddenly, the footsteps stopped, and all that could be heard outside was the impatient growl of the mutant.
Zhang Zhenzhen, confused, moved closer to the cabinet door with tears in her eyes, wanting to hear the truth.
With a loud "bang," something slammed heavily against the cabinet door!
"Ahhh-"
Caught off guard, Zhang Zhenzhen screamed in fright. By the time she realized what was happening, it was too late.
The mutants discovered her location.
Before Miao Yin could even lift a finger, the mutants swarmed over, desperately banging on the cabinet door, causing the cabinet to tremble and teeter on the verge of collapse.
The entire door was pierced and torn apart by the crocodile men and thrown on the ground. Zhang Zhenzhen was dragged out by them and thrown on the ground like a rag.
Hiding in the dark closet, Ji Yuanzhou's hands trembled as he listened to Zhang Zhenzhen's incessant screams that surrounded him. It was a horrific scene that he could imagine even without seeing it with his own eyes.
After an unknown amount of time, the screams ceased, leaving only the sound of the deformed man chewing.
Footsteps sounded again.
"Da da da."
This time, the voice slowly approached him.
An invisible sense of oppression came from all directions. Ji Yuanzhou closed his eyes tightly, letting his emotions spiral out of control.
The temperature inside the cabinet inexplicably rose, and soon, even breathing became difficult.
Ji Yuanzhou realized something.
It's fire!
She knew he was there, and she wanted to force herself to go out!
In the stuffy closet, Ji Yuanzhou gave a self-deprecating laugh in the darkness.
There was no other choice.
Before he could breathe, he pushed open the door. Through his blurred vision, he was greeted by Miao Yin's ambiguous smile and the bizarre, deformed crocodile-man.
Ji Yuanzhou is far superior to Zhang Zhenzhen.
He gripped the fruit knife tucked into his belt, and after opening the door, he slashed out the eyes of the first mutant that lunged at him. Then, he grabbed its neck to prevent it from biting him, used its body as a shield, and forced his way out.
But it was quickly tripped by the mutant who pounced on it and fell to the ground.
The fall was so hard that he seemed to hear his bones cracking and felt a sharp pain in his chest.
The crocodile-men next to him bit his already injured arm, causing secondary damage, and others bit his legs and shoulders.
"what!"
The mutated people all gathered around, and Ji Yuanzhou once again mobilized the little bit of supernatural power he had painstakingly accumulated.
A flash of black and white lightning caused the distorted people to jump back in pain, humanely covering their mouths where they had been electrocuted.
Ji Yuanzhou quickly used his still-intact arm to prop himself up and scrambled out of the fitting room.
In the empty corridor, he dragged his bleeding leg and ran desperately, his heart pounding deafeningly in the sweltering air.
As he passed the kayak exhibit, he casually pushed all the exhibits along the way off the boat, hoping to slow down the speed at which the mutants caught up.
But these are just a drop in the ocean.
The crocodiles had caught up, and at the end of the road ahead of him was a window.
If he jumps from here, is there any chance he will survive?
In the face of a life-or-death crisis, this thought flashed through his mind.
But he quickly remembered that he was on the fourth floor. If he jumped, he would be crippled even if he didn't die, and the mutants who went down with him would definitely eat him up.
If his guess is wrong, then he will truly be doomed.
Ji Yuanzhou ran to the window, turned around and stood there, and the deformed man behind him lunged at him with bared teeth and claws.
As the crocodiles drew closer and closer, his whole body tensed up, he even stopped breathing, and all his thoughts were mobilized.
Just as they pounced, Ji Yuanzhou suddenly crouched down!
The two mutants, having missed their target, broke through the window and fell out.
But the ordeal was not over yet; the remaining mutants still clung to him!
Ji Yuanzhou struggled with his last ounce of strength, stabbing them with a knife or using his last bit of supernatural ability to fight for his life, exhausting every possible means.
They became entangled, and during the fight, Ji Yuanzhou's lower back slammed into the window frame.
The pain caused him to lose his balance and fall backward.
However, in the heat of the moment, his body's potential was unleashed, and he instinctively grabbed the window frame, straining so hard that his veins bulged.
The two deformed beings clinging to him tore his clothes, lost their grip, and fell heavily onto the concrete ground.
But the deformed people won't die. The injuries from the fall will only render them immobile for a short time. Once they recover, they will climb back up the wall.
Ji Yuanzhou desperately gripped the window frame, trying to pull himself up, but his injured arm could no longer support the movement, and blood flowed down his sleeve with the force of gravity.
His fingers were slowly slipping outwards; he could barely hold on!
……
When Miao Yin arrived, Ji Yuanzhou was only holding onto the window with one hand.
Seeing his fingers turn white from straining so hard, Miao Yin rested her arm on the window frame, propped her chin up, and watched him with great interest.
"We meet again, Ji Yuanzhou."
The other person was no longer the gentle and refined person they had been when they first met; they looked like a refugee who had run away from somewhere.
Due to excessive blood loss, Ji Yuanzhou's vision was blurry, and even his pupils were somewhat dilated. He was only able to stay awake by his own instincts. Miao Yin's voice seemed to come from near and far in his ears.
For a moment, he even thought he was hallucinating.
"Help...me...please...please..."
He managed to squeeze out a few syllables from his throat, his voice so soft that it was almost inaudible if you didn't listen carefully.
"Huh? What are you saying? I can't hear you," Miao Yin said with a grin.
"All I remember is you saying you'd consider joining my team. How's your decision going?"
