Chapter 392 A Sharp-Tongued Son, Always Seeking Revenge
Chapter 392 A Sharp-Tongued Son, Always Seeking Revenge
Upon seeing the message from Wen Tingye, Ning Yao barely managed to snap out of her daze, put the matter aside, and composed herself.
Ai Xiubao was indeed at the Wen family residence. Old Master Wen was not home; only Old Madam Wen was with the two children.
The children were at an age where they were very active and found it boring to stay indoors, so they jumped out into the garden and chased each other.
When Ning Yao appeared, the two children had their backs to her. Only Old Madam Wen saw Ning Yao and gave her a loving smile.
Ning Yao smiled and nodded at Old Madam Wen, then slowly approached the child with the gift box in hand.
As if sensing something, Wen Aixiu suddenly turned around, his dark, bright eyes, like glass beads, flashing with light.
"Mommy!" Wen Aixiu took off running and plunged into Ning Yao's arms, wrapping her little arms around Ning Yao's waist.
He had grown quite a bit taller; his head was now almost up to Ning Yao's chest.
His facial features aren't so round anymore; they're more angular, making him a handsome young man.
"Did you miss me?" Ning Yao smiled, bent down, hugged her son, and ruffled his hair with her hand.
"I miss you so much." Wen Aixiu is usually a cold and aloof person with a poker face, but he only shows a little bit of childlike willfulness and innocence when he is with Ning Yao.
"My son has become more handsome." Ning Yao praised Wen Aixiu without reservation, her eyes revealing a hint of pride.
How could she not be proud? This little thing that was born from her belly has grown so big now.
"Really? Am I handsome? Am I more handsome than Daddy in Mommy's heart?" Wen Aixiu looked up at Ning Yao with anticipation.
"Yeah, he's more handsome than your dad. I wonder how many girls he'll charm when he grows up!" Ning Yao clicked her tongue and nodded approvingly.
"It doesn't matter whether other girls are smitten or not, as long as Mommy thinks he's handsome!" Wen Aishute said proudly, but his eyes were filled with undisguised joy, almost overflowing.
Children don't know how to hide their emotions, and Ning Yao saw it all clearly, which made her feel amused.
Wen Baoying also jogged over, wearing the pink leather shoes that Old Madam Wen had bought for her, with a particularly cute bow design.
"You've worked hard," Ning Yao said to Madam Wen in a gentle voice, holding her two children.
"It's alright." Madam Wen took Ning Yao's hand and led her to sit down beside her.
Ning Yao brought gifts for the children, and naturally also prepared gifts for Old Madam Wen and Old Master Wen, all of which were precious medicinal herbs from the Si Men base.
Madam Wen happily accepted the gift, treating Ning Yao as no outsider.
"Did you see your biological father this time when you returned to Simen?" Old Madam Wen's hand was very warm. She placed it on the back of Ning Yao's hand, pressed her hand in her palm, and gently squeezed it with her fingertips.
"Yes, I saw him." A hint of reluctance flashed in Ning Yao's eyes when she mentioned her father.
"After a while, when the old master is feeling better, we'll go to the Si Gate to meet our father-in-law." Old Madam Wen's words were anything but subtle; she practically used the term "father-in-law" directly, almost explicitly indicating it to Ning Yao.
Ning Yao was stunned for a moment, then quickly realized what was happening, her ears burning red.
Seeing her like this, Madam Wen smiled even more kindly.
“I’m a very direct person and I don’t like to beat around the bush. You are the daughter-in-law that my father and I have decided on, there’s no doubt about it. As for Tingye, I’ll tell him to hurry up and propose to you as soon as possible.”
“My father is not in good health and has suffered a lot over the years. We plan to wait until he is in better health before discussing the wedding.”
Ning Yao explained something to Old Madam Wen.
For some reason, she seemed somewhat lost when she talked about her wedding.
It seems like there was no dating process at all; they went straight to married life, and their children are already old enough to run errands, with the older ones even approaching marriageable age.
"What happened to my father-in-law? Last time, Tingye called the old doctor over because of my father-in-law's illness?" Madam Wen asked, a hint of worry in her eyes.
Interrupted by Madam Wen's words, Ning Yao composed herself and answered the old lady's question.
"My father is fine, he just needs time to recover, so please don't worry."
"That's good." Madam Wen finally breathed a sigh of relief.
Ning Yao suffered a lot, and Madam Wen sincerely hoped that she could find happiness and that her family could live peacefully and happily.
This girl lost her mother when she was only in high school. Her stepfather, stepmother, and stepsister were such despicable people. Later, she was tricked into having Wen Tingye's child in her womb, and then she lived abroad alone with the child.
Those are four children. Even with Bai Yan Xue Fei, it must still be hard work.
Madam Wen had been through it all; she herself had twin children and understood the hardships involved.
Ai Xiu and Bao Ying listened obediently to the adults, not interrupting when they spoke.
Only after Old Madam Wen stopped talking did Wen Baoying have a chance to say a few words to Ning Yao.
"Mommy, my brother's and my report cards are ready. They're in your schoolbags. You can look at them anytime. I'll go get them for you."
Wen Aixiu remembered that Ning Yao told them to prepare well for the exam before she left. These days, he hardly needed to worry about his own studies, and even had the energy to help Wen Baoying review her lessons.
Both of their report cards were very impressive, and the teacher even gave them little red flowers, which were displayed on their report cards – quite a big one!
"My darlings are so amazing, Mommy loves you!" Ning Yao smiled and leaned in to give Wen Baoying a big kiss on her fair cheek.
Wen Baoying blushed immediately, pursing her lips tightly to suppress the ever-rising corners of her mouth, afraid that her smile would be too obvious and make her look silly.
She recently lost her front tooth, and whenever she smiled, Wen Aixiu mocked her, saying that with her missing tooth, she looked like a complete idiot. So Wen Baoying rarely dared to open her mouth and smile anymore.
"Just laugh if you want to. Holding it in makes you look like a toothless octopus," Wen Aixiu said abruptly, raising an eyebrow.
"Mommy, look at my brother, he's laughing at me again!" Wen Baoying pouted and stomped her feet in anger.
"Wen Aixiu, don't laugh at your sister. She was so good to you when you were losing your baby teeth." Ning Yao glanced at Wen Aixiu and scolded him for his behavior.
They were well-behaved for only a short while, and now they've shown their true colors again.
What's wrong with that mouth? It just comes out of nowhere, and I don't know where he learned those metaphors from.
Ning Yao gazed intently at her son, wondering: Who did he inherit this from? Neither Wen Tingye nor I seem to have a sharp tongue.
Wen Aixiu said disdainfully, "Was she nice to me? She would laugh with her hands on her stomach as soon as she saw me. I still remember her smug look."
Ning Yao sighed inwardly, wondering if her son's vindictive nature would affect his social circle in the future.
