Chapter 4 The Heiress Who Was Rejected from the Engagement
Chapter 4 The Heiress Who Was Rejected from the Engagement
As the jokes about the Ling and Qi families spread to those who cared, Ling Yi had already left the wedding and was standing in the club where she had her bachelorette party the day before.
To celebrate Qi Qingran's impending death, her girlfriends, who always had an excuse to party, threw her a divorce party.
Shi Ling smiled as she looked at Ling Yi's face, which showed no signs of being haggard or disappointed, and said sourly, "Yesterday was a bachelor party, today is a divorce party. Yi Yi is truly worthy of her name; even her life is an accelerated version."
Ling Yi carefully corrected her: "Maybe it's a widows' party."
Let's be optimistic, what if Qi Qingran dies?
Shi Ling paused for a moment, then heard laughter coming from behind her.
She turned around and saw several spoiled young men loitering among the women, and her expression changed.
Before she could even open her mouth to curse, she heard the leading man laugh in a sarcastic tone: "Oh dear, isn't this Miss Ling Yi? Why aren't you in your wedding night with your husband? What are you doing here having fun?"
"Could it be that your husband doesn't like you anymore and ran off with someone else?" The last three words were spoken with great sarcasm, truly the epitome of irony.
Ling Yi glanced at the noisy humans, then looked up at the ceiling.
As she moved, the man was so startled that he took a step back and bumped into the crowd.
This young lady is a bit wicked; he doesn't want to follow in Qi Qingran's footsteps.
Ling Yi asked in confusion, "Why are you hiding?"
Crystal lamps don't just randomly fall from place to place.
"You!" Startled by the young lady's glare, the man's face flushed red and then turned pale.
Behind him, he heard the mocking laughter of his cronies. Not wanting to lose face any longer, he glared at Ling Yi and turned to leave.
Ling Yi said regretfully, "I haven't even answered his question yet, why did he leave?"
She also wanted to say that the reason she didn't have a wedding night today was because her husband had died.
What great news! She hadn't even had a chance to share it with everyone yet, how could she have passed away?
The man stumbled from her voice and accidentally bumped into a passing waiter.
"Are you blind?!" he cursed, shoving the person away violently.
The waiter, knocked down, spilled his drinks all over himself, but dared not utter a single inappropriate word to the distinguished guest. He simply lay on the ground, carefully picking up the messy, broken cups and saucers, looking utterly pitiful.
"They're blind!" The girls offered their condolences from afar and went to help the waiter up: "Never mind that for now, go change your clothes and then check if you're injured..."
The moment the disheveled waitress was pulled up, Shi Ling's comforting voice abruptly stopped, and she shook her off as if she were swatting away a plague.
"why you?"
Why isn't this guy at the hospital watching over that brainless Qi Qingran? What is he doing here?
Going to work? That's a bit too dedicated!
Ling Yi followed her gaze and saw a pale little face and a pair of pitiful yet stubborn red eyes.
Gao Qianning?
Why is she here instead of staying at the hospital with Qi Qingran?
But what does this have to do with her?
After pondering for three seconds, Ling Yi decided to temporarily ignore the trouble after determining that she could not physically eliminate Gao Qianning in public.
So she just glanced at the person casually and was about to go inside.
That glance was so casual, it didn't seem like he was looking at a rival in love, but rather like he was looking at a familiar wooden post by the roadside.
Gao Qianning stiffened at that glance, and before Ling Yi's figure disappeared, she spoke up: "Miss Ling must look down on me."
She suddenly covered her face with her hands, and a muffled voice, choked with sobs, escaped through her fingers: "But what can I do? Without Qingran, I wouldn't have been able to hold on until now, my parents wouldn't be alive today, and my younger brother wouldn't be able to go to school!"
"I also want to live an upright life like Miss Ling, but I have no money, I don't deserve it at all..."
The faint yet desperate sobs echoed in everyone's ears, causing those who heard them to grieve and those who saw them to weep.
The poor little thing was telling her story of helplessness, which made the surrounding air freeze, and also made Ling Yi laugh.
She held back the thoughtless child who was about to jump out, and tilted her head in confusion.
“Your hair is beautiful and smooth, showing signs of care.” She looked at the poor girl with suspicion: “There are no signs of labor on your hands either, and your posture and figure indicate that you have received or are receiving good physical education.”
She walked slowly to Gao Qianning, gently took her hand, and looked at the sparkling watch and the necklace that was faintly visible around her neck: "Is someone who can afford a watch worth 100,000 yuan and a necklace worth hundreds of thousands of yuan really so poor?"
Ling Yi truly couldn't understand how the human living environment could have deteriorated to such an extent!
People who can afford to wear jewelry worth hundreds of thousands of yuan have become the kind of people who can't afford to live!
Horror!
"Do you need a mortgage?" she asked kindly. "I can introduce you to a bank manager."
Gao Qianning's sobbing abruptly stopped. She tried to pull her hand out of Ling Yi's grasp, only to find that this pampered young lady had strength beyond her imagination.
"Ugh!" Shi Ling, who had just been so angry at Gao Qianning for turning black into white that she almost lost her mind, laughed like a goose, her words stabbing straight to the heart: "You don't understand, do you? A gambling father, a sick mother, a younger brother in school, and a broken woman. Now this kind of innocent girl is all the rage, and there will always be a stupid man who will pay for it."
As her voice rang out, unrestrained laughter, which could no longer be contained, came from all around, making it impossible for Gao Qianning to stay in one place any longer.
She used all her strength to break free from her restraints and staggered away.
Ling Yi watched her retreating figure, once again regretting that there wasn't a crystal chandelier here that could be placed on the ground at any time.
If one method can solve two problems, that would be wonderful.
Unfortunately, there are no free lunches in this world, and she still had to do some things herself.
Shi Ling saw the dejection in her eyes and thought she was crazy. Why was she so dejected over someone who made her lose face?
If you're having a "Mary Sue" moment, you can send me money, but don't sympathize with the person who interfered in your marriage.
However, considering that Ling Yi had provided her with some laughs, she said something quite sensible: "Don't listen to her nonsense. My dad is a secretary and his family is even worse off than hers. But her sister is a workaholic. She worked three jobs during college and still managed to get a lot of certifications. She still does well by her own efforts."
"People are working themselves to the bone, but in this 'true love's' mouth, it's as if being poor means you have to sell yourself."
"Pah! If you're going to wallow in your own depravity, don't drag others down with you. Disgusting!"
The young lady's tone was harsh, truly befitting a minor cannon fodder character.
Ling Yi glanced at her and nodded: "I understand."
Her database contains diverse human models, so how could she possibly listen to only one person?
Shi Ling rolled her eyes, swayed her hips, and went in first: "You know? You know nothing!"
You know what I mean? Your man ran away?
