Urban Soldier Young Master

Chapter 951 - 950: The Great Uproar

Chapter 951 - 950: The Great Uproar

Of course, before killing Chu Ge, Li Zheming had some matters to attend to, which included taking back all the suffering and pain he had endured these days, and not just taking it back, but returning it tenfold, a hundredfold!During these many days, the reason he could grit his teeth and hang on was because he knew that his father would never abandon him, and the detention center people would never let him die in there. As long as he was alive, everything would eventually be fine.

As he left the detention center and was pushed into the prison van, Li Zheming looked up at the blue sky and sun above, with a slight smile at the corner of his mouth.

At eight-thirty, the prison van started, with one police car in front of it and another behind, all heading towards the Lidu City Intermediate People's Court.

In a police car following close behind, Lin Gaoze sat in the driver's seat, with Chu Ge in the passenger seat.

Lin Gaoze started the car, following the prison van, glanced sideways at Chu Ge, and said, "What do you think are the chances of something happening on the way?"

"Fifty percent."

"Hmm? You think it's that high? The car an hour ago had a smooth ride."

Since discovering that Li Zheming's trial was today, Chu Ge and Lin Gaoze felt something was amiss, so they intentionally spread the word, but falsely stated the departure time of the prison van as an hour earlier, using it as a decoy.

Thus, there was the prison van that departed an hour ago, but by the time it reached the court, nothing unusual had happened.

Chu Ge shrugged, "Either nothing happens or something does, just those two possibilities, so of course, it's fifty percent."

"Turns out you were making a joke," Lin Gaoze, shaking his head in disbelief, said, "Honestly, I'm quite puzzled. Why are you so attentive to Li Zheming's matters? We're good friends, but I have some self-awareness; you wouldn't be doing this just to help me, right?"

"If I said it was to help you, would you believe me?"

Lin Gaoze chuckled, "Believe you? Yeah, right."

Chu Ge also laughed, "Hey, if you put it that way, I'm hurt. Is my good intention just donkey liver and lungs to you?"

Having just left the detention center, both Chu Ge and Lin Gaoze felt relatively relaxed, chatting and laughing as they followed the prison van. After all, even if anyone had any sneaky intentions, they wouldn't be foolish enough to act here.

As for why Chu Ge was so invested in this matter, it was obviously because he was no longer alone, and he didn't want any potential threats to endanger those around him.

The three vehicles continued on their way, soon reaching a wide and remote stretch of road. Lin Gaoze's nerves instinctively tensed, his expression serious and alert, constantly observing the surroundings as he drove.

Chu Ge's expression didn't change much, but he was playing with the heavy, black handgun that Lin Gaoze handed to him earlier.

"Be careful, don't have an accidental discharge."

The car drove a bit more, and soon they would be in the city. Lin Gaoze breathed a sigh of relief, feeling that there should be no issues now. In his view, if he wanted to hijack the prison van, doing so in the city would not be a wise choice.

"Don't worry, it's not that easy to have an accidental discharge."

Despite his lazy tone, Chu Ge's eyes had become much sharper than before.

"Watching you play with the gun makes me nervous. You should give it back. I don't want to die young. If I died at the hands of thugs, I might be considered a martyr, but if I died at your hands, how unjust would that be?"

"No rush, I'll give it back when we reach the court."

Lin Gaoze shook his head speechlessly, "We're almost in the city; it's definitely safe now. Why are you still holding the gun?"

"Safe or not, we'll see when we reach the court."

As Chu Ge spoke, he slid the magazine he had removed back into the gun, opened the safety, and prepared to fire at any time.

Lin Gaoze's eyes twitched. Why was this guy getting scarier the more he played with the gun?

The three vehicles continued advancing, and Chu Ge stopped talking, with his gaze growing as sharp as a hawk's.

A few more minutes passed before the vehicles entered the city. Just ten minutes away from the court, as they were about to pass the city government, Chu Ge suddenly frowned.

Something was wrong! There was a problem after all!

Right ahead of them, hundreds of people, mostly elderly, appeared at the city government entrance. Some were holding signs, while others were tying banners to trees, all spirited and noisy.

The three vehicles were forced to stop. Lin Gaoze also frowned, exchanging glances with Chu Ge, and helplessly said, "Why did these people have to pick this moment? I'll go take a look."

Chu Ge shook his head, "No need to look. Get the two vehicles in front to turn around immediately, head to the court via another route. If the vehicles behind catch up, we won't even be able to detour."

Lin Gaoze didn't think much of it. This wasn't the first time he'd seen something like this. Those people were there to petition the city government, and truthfully, he felt quite sympathetic towards them.

The hundreds of people here were former residents of a shantytown, their homes torn down by the Green Emperor Group. Three or four years later, the new buildings still hadn't been constructed, and the promised rental subsidies were often delayed. This month's got pushed to next, and next month's to the one after that, dragging on interminably.

Such a situation would be distressing for anyone. To be honest, many of the elderly here are already in their seventies or eighties, and if these buildings aren't completed soon, they may very well never get to see their new homes.

In their twilight years, without a place to call home, what a sigh-inducing fate...

It's not as if the city government doesn't face challenges. The developer claims they have no money. What can you do?

You think a Fortune 500 company could run out of money? Their stance is straightforward—poor cash flow. No matter how many ways you phrase it, in this area, they're out of funds.

This kind of thing happens all over the country. How many people actually manage to get a resolution?

With these thoughts lingering, Lin Gaoze had just stepped out of the car when suddenly he heard a loud crash from behind, immediately followed by a series of screeching metallic collisions.

He turned to see a long trailer truck now wedged in the middle of the road behind them, sealing off their escape route entirely. Several sedans were knocked out of the way and stood crookedly on the road, their alarms blaring loudly.

Lin Gaoze's brow furrowed deeper, his expression becoming as grim as could be.

A traffic accident? A pile-up? Hell no! How could it be such a coincidence? If this wasn't purposefully arranged in advance, then it's nothing short of a ghost story!

"Everyone! Guard the prisoner transport!"

Lin Gaoze shouted, grabbing his pistol from his waist in one fluid motion and quickly moved to the side of the prisoner vehicle.

Soon after, seven or eight motorcycles appeared out of nowhere, speeding forward without regard for the crowd. Each rider wore a helmet and gripped a steel pipe, clearly having set up an ambush.

As these people emerged, chaos erupted. Everyone feared getting hit by the motorcycles or struck by those crazy riders wielding steel pipes.

But that wasn't all. In addition to charging through, some people on the back seats of the motorcycles held large bottles of mineral water in each hand, pouring the liquid onto the discarded banners and signs. Others threw objects where the liquid was poured.

From the smell, it was undoubtedly gasoline coming out of the mineral water bottles.

The obvious purpose of the gasoline was to spark a fire. Soon, multiple spots ignited, sending up billowing black smoke.

The riotous crowd descended further into bedlam, coughing, screaming, shoving, and running...

"Bang!"

A policeman fired a warning shot into the air, but it did little to deter the motorcyclists. If anything, it triggered a loud shout from Lin Gaoze.

"No shooting! No one is allowed to shoot!"

Even though Lin Gaoze was furious, wanting to shoot down every one of these motorcyclists, the scene was too chaotic. He couldn't ensure no innocent civilians would get hurt. Things were already dire; a few more civilian casualties would be catastrophic.

Chaos! Utter chaos!

Finally, the skilled motorcyclists charged madly towards the prisoner transport.

"Bang! Bang!"

Suddenly, two gunshots rang out, prompting an angry outburst from Lin Gaoze, "Who the hell fired? Are you crazy?"

The shots were fired by Chu Ge. Confident in his aim, he targeted the legs of two motorcyclists. But this time, he misjudged. Almost simultaneously with his shots, the two motorcycles made erratic maneuvers, and both bullets missed their marks.

Was it luck? Or skill?

Chu Ge's brow furrowed more deeply. He originally planned to spare lives, but given the current circumstances, he couldn't hold back any longer.

Just as Chu Ge was about to raise his gun to continue firing, the riders on these two motorcycles suddenly grabbed nearby escaping civilians, using them as human shields.

The two hostages were instantly terrified, screaming "Help!" as their bodies trembled uncontrollably, arms and legs flailing instinctively. Even Chu Ge couldn't take the shot now.

It seemed... the escape from those two bullets wasn't mere luck.

Experts, adversaries even more formidable than imagined!

The motorcycles charged straight at Chu Ge, showing no regard for the police car parked behind him, set on colliding head-on with Chu Ge.

With only a few meters left between the motorcycles and Chu Ge, suddenly, the four riders leaped like nimble apes, jumping off before the bikes could crash.

The two motorcycles, one on the left and one on the right, roared towards Chu Ge.
