Chapter 581 580: Gathering
Chapter 581 580: Gathering
The world spun, the chaotic hum of the space crack faded, and for a brief moment, his vision blurred. When his feet finally touched solid ground, the first thing he noticed was the silence.
It wasn't the kind of peaceful silence one might find in a quiet forest or an empty room, it was the suffocating, heavy kind that pressed down on his chest and made every breath feel shallow.
Corey blinked, his Tri-Pupil Eyes immediately adjusted to the dim light of the new environment. The air was thick and damp, carrying the scent of wet earth and something faintly metallic. He turned his head slowly, his gaze falling on the scene before him.
They were standing on what seemed to be a vast, open plain that was disturbingly silent. But it wasn't the plain that caught his attention, it was the towering structure in the distance, in the center of the plain. It rose out of the ground like a decayed monument to forgotten gods, like the bones of a long dead god.
It was the ruined Temple of the Old Ones.
The portion of the temple that was visible above ground was massive despite being incomplete. Its once mighty walls, now weathered by countless ages of wear and wars, were carved from dark, jagged stone that seemed to absorb the dim light.
Faded, almost eroded runes covered every visible surface, with their edges glowing faintly with a sickly crimson and black hue that pulsed in rhythm with an unseen heartbeat. Towering spires reached toward the low-hanging, grayish clouds, however, their tips were broken and crumbled as though it was snapped by a colossal hand.
The main structure was domed, and the roof cracked open in multiple places, revealing a glimpse of what was within.
Ivy and strange, glowing vines crawled up its walls, their luminescence casting eerie patterns on the temple's surface. A series of jagged pillars flanked the temple's entrance, many toppled over, lying half-buried in the ashen soil.
Corey's gaze swept to the enormous archway that served as the temple's entrance. The arch was cracked, but it retained an undeniable sense of menace, as though the doorway led not just into the temple but into the maw of some great beast.@@@@
Behind him, Corey heard the faint sound of Divine's voice.
"Damn, it's bigger than I expected," Divine muttered, and then his gaze moved to his left and right. "And there are way more people than I expected."
Corey's brows rose, and then he looked around, shifting his focus from the temple to his surroundings. What he saw made his eyes jump in surprise.
'They've been brainwashed too?' Corey thought, and then he shifted his attention to the woman who stood in front of this group.
The woman was a breathtakingly beautiful woman with flawless golden skin, mesmerizing lavender eyes, and cascading silver hair. She wore red robes that accentuated her perfectly shaped E-cup size breasts and figure.
This woman was Lysandra Faelan of the Pleasure Sect.
Seeing this woman, Corey instantly knew that the people behind her, which consisted mostly of men, had been bewitched by her. Even Corey with all his mental prowess and indifference towards women found himself desiring this woman.
However, Corey's mind was not fixed on the woman, but on the man who stood beside the woman with a cold expression.
"What the hell is Fatty doing there?" Divine cursed out loud as he gazed at the unmistakable figure of Fatty Black Bonez.
Corey's eyes narrowed slightly as he observed Fatty Black Bonez, and he realized that just like those behind him, he had also been bewitched.
"Did he try to seduce her into his bed?" Melissa said with a barely restrained chuckle and a slight shake of her head.
"Most likely," Corey replied with a light shrug, and Divine slapped his forehead with a frustrated sigh.
Corey glanced at Fatty Black Bonez, however, Fatty Black Bonez's gaze was on the ruined temple, and not on them.
Corey shifted his gaze, and he realized that there were more than these three groups, but these three groups were the closest to them and in their line of sight.
'Including our group, there are a total of twelve groups. Each Chosen brought at least twenty members.'
Just as Corey had this thought, his eyes landed on a group, and a cold light flashed in his eyes.
